In a nutshell, Bill's post encapsulates the difference in mindset. Barnsley rant and rave about receiving circa £3 million for a centre half whos had a good season in the third tier. We have a player whos played two out of the last three seasons in the championship. During which time he received full international recognition, received a championship player of the month award, got moved into midfield, showed he can cover at right back if required, scored EIGHT goals in a season, is hardly ever injured ....... and barnsley offer £600k!!! If it wasnt so disrespectful it would be funny.

But what makes it even worse is that some of our own think that £600k would be a fair price.

I work with dingles. The vast majority are sound blokes, but I'll tell you what they don't half over value their players. Keiffer moore was "looks ok, id sey his w'orth about haaalf a milli'un" but is now "three mill, ****in minimum". The only difference being he originally played for us and now plays for them. It really is bizarre.

Barnsley (town and club) is like a puffer fish. Rotherham (town and club) is like a cowardly lion. We've been told so often that we're ****, we believe it!

It's not us who over value our talent it's the buying clubs who pay the fees .

If Bristol City want to pay us £3m for Kieffer Moore then how's that our fault .

Swansea paid us £6.5m for Alfie Mawson , where is he now ?

Well I'll tell you .

In the championship with Fulham , the very same league he played in for a very short time with ourselves and the very same one we are back at too .

We are talking about a player who was voted Player of the month in the Championship last season.Barnsley have just sold a third division player for two million.The true valueation of this player is higher than what we got for Will Vaulks and the club must not listen to any other offers that fall below that mark.The dingles can't afford him,they don't spend big, they collect big.

You might have to retreat on that last sentence Bill , we understand a bid of over £2m has been tabled for a striker playing in Germany .

Bfc have got a bit of a march on us with the buy em cheap and then sell them on for a few £m.

I would imagine that there's quite a few clubs out there who are thinking that if the bright new talent plays for Barnsley then they must be good and worth paying extra. Probably due to their track record of selling on decent players over the years.

Unfortunately we don't have that history so buying from us is probably perceived to be a risk.

We're going in the right direction but some way to go yet

Last season Ajayi got off to a medium start, had a great spell in the middle and called up to Nigeria national squad, then tailed off near the end, when we desperately needed clean sheets and/or goals. If he'd kept up the standard of the middle spell he'd be playing in the African Cup of Nations. They didn't pick him.
