But this is just the point. Rafa apparently made out that it was all a shock only 1 week before his contract was up, that Ashley and co had decided there was no further point in negotiating, so how could he have been looking for other jobs and actually know this one was the project for him at the right time?
If you can't see that this stinks then fair enough but I do see it stinking to high heaven.
Rafa's integrity is a fallacy in my opinion. By my guess, he's used the fans love for him as some kind of messiah as his bargaining tool and it appears he thought he could simply dictate his own terms.
This is why I think Ashley basically gave up negotiating with the man.
I'd hazard a guess that Rafa was offered another good contract and a certain spend which would have been reasonable when considering what he's had to spend over 3 seasons. I'd guess that he wanted a kings ransom to play with the big boys.
Ashley being careful would likely have called no joy.
Rafa doesn't seem like a man that likes to be turned down.
The fans have took to a man who's been paid 6 million a season, likely 20 million or so in the three and a bit seasons at Newcastle and he's achieved what any ordinary manager would have achieved in my honest opinion.
I am extremely glad Rafa is not our manager. I didn't enjoy 80% of his set up and I didn't particularly like the way he tried (and succeeded with some) to play the fans off against the club and into his pocket with his canvassing tactics.
The man's been found out. There's a reason clubs in England or Europe weren't clamouring for his signature. A Chinese club latched onto him, just like they do with absolutely anyone with a name to try and enhance their stance in the world of football.
Rafa's now got his so called perfect project at the right time, all done and dusted, either, in a few days or over time while still under contract.
Either way something doesn't add up and he walks away from Newcastle, for me, as a man who lost his facade of having integrity.
You feel free to argue this as much as you feel. I will do the same whilst I still have the typing ability to do so, until stopped.
Don't try and win an argument with ad hominem and strawman attacks. It makes you look weak.
