I'm in the dismayed and we've been fleeced category.
Ajayi in an international footballer, versatile who can play in three or four positions, doesn't get sent off, very quick, reads the game well and was admired by opposition Managers and their fans. He's also proved himself at cship level and has got the better of more illustrious opponents on many occasions. He controlled some games for us almost single handed. He scores goals, from defence.
He shone in a struggling team which emphasises his quality.
He,s prone to the odd error and does go awol so he wouldn't have gone for big money but I think we,ve got about half of what he's worth.
Yes the Combined value of him and Vaulks is a lot of money but it should have been more without being greedy. We,ve undersold him without doubt for the reasons stated above
The length of his contract hasn't helped but I think there are a few cship clubs who now thinking they would have offered more between now and closure of the window.
If he was a Brentford, Bristol City or Barnsley player they would have got a lot more than we did.
Shame but unfortunately reality bites
Hopefully some reinvestment will now soften the blow

I thought he was worth more than the 2.5 we may eventually get, possibly double that. Unfortunately with only a year left on his contract we were never going to get that and I think this is a good piece of business done by the club.
Fact is we could pull 6 million quid for 2 players we paid a combined 350'000 for. That's absolutely incredible for us and shows real progress made. If we can't feel positive about our club right now we never will. A few years ago the pair would have fetched a million between them.
We've broken our transfer record too with Ladapo. It's all good lads n lasses.
Why make Paul Douglas a scapegoat for something out of his control. The club had a figure of how much they wanted and by the sounds of it they’ve hit or surpassed that figure. Why hasn’t another Championship club come in and outbid West Bromwich Albion
Where have I said that he was rubbish?
Where have I said there is a big list of clubs prepared to pay £4 million for Ajayi?
I am just pointing out that Paul Douglas negotiates for the club, according to the man himself anyway, and obviously has executive responsibility for agreeing transfer fees, wages etc. Presumably he is given a range that is acceptable to the club but his remit is to negotiate and conclude the deal.
For what it's worth, I'm surprised we've sold Ajayi so early in the transfer window as it's possible other clubs may have joined the race for him.
You have to conclude therefore that the sale is for operational reasons to allow Warne to find replacements (yes plural) for Ajayi and, maybe most significantly, that the fee agreed was within the range acceptable to the club.
It could be, as i have said on another thread, that Ajayi might not fit into the pattern Warne wants to play this season so RUFC might think they might as well cash in now than leave him out of the team and devalue him. If we are gonna play 4 3 3 it would be difficult to see his role apart from being a CB where, as we all know, he can be a bit of a liability.
Dunno for sure but just a thought.
Yep bit disappointed if it is 1.5m but as someone said, as long as it is reinvested then fair enough.

No problem Frank.
You are right that he negotiates within the remit given to him by the club (normal business procedure really) but he does have executive responsibility to conclude a deal.
Unfortunately for him that makes him "Johnny on the spot" which means he can sometimes attract unfair criticism from supporters when none of us really know what constraints he is working under.
Good luck Semi and I hope you do great at WBA. it's pretty evenly split about whether its a good deal or bad deal. However, lets look at the facts. Players come in and whether they are successful or not, one thing is certain. At some point they all go. We have just received over £3-5 million minimum for £2 players. They have now gone and no point in looking back. What is now important is that the the club re-invest a good percentage of that money on the players that Warney wants. Up the bids to the ones we have already put bids in for and get them. We need to have a quality squad that that will not only gain promotion, but have the quality to keep us there. Olisunde, Wiles, Crooks, Ladapo, Kayode are the future. Lets look forward. UTM.
