True, he's very inconsistent from game to game, but he has consistently scored 1 in 3 at L2 and L1 levels. He managed 13 goals for as last season in an awful team. Given all of that, if I were him, I'd want to be playing at a higher level than the NL.

And given his wages, I'd rather he left than stayed. He was one of our better players last season, and he can at least leave knowing he didn't steal a wage completely like some did. I wish him well if he leaves, but it definitely suits both parties.

It doesn't really suit Notts unless we quickly sign a replacement. If he's gone before Saturday who do we play up front?

I'm thinking beyond this weekend's match. It suits Notts not to have people on ridiculous wages who don't have that big an impact on most games. It suits Notts not to be a financial blackhole for the new owners. And it suits Notts to get a more suitable replacement who will give us more physicality and areal threat up top, assuming that is what the plan is.

For what it's worth, of the three apparent big earners (Dennis, Enzio, Hemmings), Kane is the one I would have chosen to keep, simply because he actually scored from time to time, but I think we probably can't be too picky.

I'm thinking it's never too soon to start winning.

It doesn't suit Notts to start a game without a recognised striker and we don't actually know that Hemmings (or anyone) is on "ridiculous wages" do we? Nor can we say Notts are a "financial blackhole". Just because Hardy's vanity made him waste his money on players his manager didn't even want, it doesn't mean we don't now have owners who will think a bit and not buy on impulse. They have facts and figures of players worldwide and hopefully will use these facts and figures and Ardley's experience to find the right man at the right price, not just someone who played for Liverpool reserves.

I say Hemmings stays until we get a proven replacement.

It could just be the Scottish papers putting 2 and 2 together and making 6. It wouldn't surprise me either way if he went or stayed. If he goes and frees up money for 1 or ideally 2 strikers more suited to us then so be it. I personally have never really been a fan. Frustrated never to have seen Dennis given a run in the team, but like everyone else says, we need a target man. Hemmings and Dennis aren't our strike partnership.

I agree that we need to start winning, but it might be that we have to get some players out before we bring new ones in. I don't know the finer points of our players contracts, but we can be fairly sure that Hemmings was on decent money for L2, let alone the NL. Notts don't have to be a financial blackhole, but if we keep our highest earners from last season on the books, it'll be pretty hard to balance the books.
