    Travel in the States

I'm off to the States end of Sept. Got most of the itinerary sorted predominantly by hire car. Longest leg is from Niagra to San Francisco. We can simply hop on a plane or drive/fly and include a 2 days in Chicago. Anyone got any advice. Is it worth the effort?

Done several road trips in the US but never across from Niagara to SAN Francisco. However, if it were me I would have a couple of days in Chicago and then fly to SFO. Will be one heck of a long trip any time of the year and although it could be done relatively easily I think a few overnights would be needed in places that you wouldn’t miss anyway.

Get the plane would be my advice but expect it to be more like a bus service than what we are used to. Think Ryanair and then a lot less quality than that!
