Thread: Bolton and Bury games likely to be suspended....latest update, what a mess.

Couldn't see that working at all. It would basically be Bolton absorbing Bury FC with no real gain for either party. It's not like they're similar sized clubs, and even if they were, the fans of both clubs would probably prefer to start phoenix clubs rather than join up. Imagine if it was RUFC and Sheffield Wednesday in this mess, how would you feel about merging with them?

Bolton ground is so far North of the town and no direct train route from Bury either. Can’t see it being a viable proposition but they might have half a squad if they merged!

Bury "might" get a 48 extension by the EFL before deciding what to do about kicking them out.

The EFL board would have been ideal sailing the Titanic

I don’t want to see a club go under but indefinite extensions cannot continue. A deadline has to come sooner than later. If they survive it could be 3 games a week!

I believe they will both survive but I reckon they’ll both get 30 point deductions to ensure they are relegated. That will be a good result for both of them.

BBC Reporting a last minute deal has been done to save Bury. Hope it's true?

Talksport Radio just reported that Bury FC has been sold to a consortium, a few minutes before the deadline

I doubt that they've been sold. That's just the owner trying to gain more time and lazy journalists.
Finding an interested party who appears credible and any new owners eventually taking over are worlds apart.
By their own words The efl still has to check they are credible and they will have many many difficult and complicated issues that will need resolving with S Dale.

Hopefully they will be given more time but I would suggest that it will some time before Bury will be deemed to be safe and playing competitive football.

I think we should all give them some breathing space and hopefully they can survive.
Await the postponed fixtures to be played on Thursday's and Sunday's
