I have to agree that Keith Moon's boots were totally impossible to fill. He was totally unconventional and although some have tried, none have been able to mimic his style. Same with the late John Entwistle with that amazing bass style and sound. No group before or since has been composed of effectively four lead performers.

I always thought the Moon the Loon characterisation was bulled up somewhat. But after reading Tony Fletcher's book it is evident that it wasn't. It was much understated if anything.

My first concert was at Brum town hall. The Kinks, The Animals, The Pretty Things and Screaming Lord Sutch. I saw Georgie Fame at the Rum Runner when he his career had dwindled somewhat. I recall being able to walk right up next to him and stand there watching and listening. I felt a bit sorry for him having come to this.
