I am actually shocked. Despite the EFL threats, I never thought it would actually come to this. So sorry for their fans and staff. Hopefully they will one day be back.

I wasn't aware until tonight, that last season, Bury had signed players on £9,000 a week contracts. Obviously something that they were never going to be able to pay. It resulted in them gaining promotion by signing these better players.

I think this stinks and while the Bury fans lapped all of this up and were enjoying the high time of promotion, then I now feel it serves them right for screwing everyone over by gaining promotion by default.

Not obvious they could not pay it and slightly more complex than this.

Stewart Day was underwriting the club through his own businesses in much the same way as Tony Stewart with us. However, Days businesses failed going into multi million pound insolvency. He had no money for the club and the whole wage structure was immediately ruinous.

It could happen to any club so totally reliant on income from their owner.

More time for Bolton
Despite further exchanges with the Administrators over the course of the Bank Holiday weekend, and right up until today’s deadline of 5pm, a resolution to ongoing impasse in negotiations regarding a completion of sale at Bolton Wanderers has not yet been found.

The EFL Board has therefore taken the decision to lift the suspension on the notice of withdrawal, which was issued as per the EFL’s insolvency policy when the Club entered administration in May 2019.

As per the League’s Articles of Association, this will now give the Club 14 days (11.59pm on 12 September, 2019) to meet all outstanding requirements of the League’s insolvency policy or its membership in the EFL will be withdrawn.

Bury have gone
Wouldn’t be at all surprise if that’s what Dale wanted, maybe EFL need to look deeper into owner and not just what money they have in front of them at the time.

Someone will come in and re start Bury FC from the bottom hopefully with no debts

Be no difference at top of L1 but only three to go down now.

In order to return League One to a 24 team division, the EFL need to find one extra club for next season.

That will come in the shape of the team which finishes fourth from bottom of League One this season, rather than an extra side gaining promotion from the league below.

This means the four promotion places from League Two remain unchanged.

I did say ages ago that clubs are struggling, now dying and it’s all down to money money money
The greedy ****s are to blame.
Will they now look at trying to do something to stop clubs dying?
Capping players fee/wages would be a start because the money they have on their heads is disgusting imo.

Using the current regulation on what grounds would you have barred Day and Dale?

How would you change it to ensure this could nver happen again?

Your not reading what's been written. Their rules and regulations aren't tight enough to stop rogues obtaining control of football clubs. It's the EFL,s fault that they didn't have the tools at their disposal to stop the likes of S Dale
After all it is their completion and they decide who plays in it as has been demonstrated overnight so they have some control but clearly not enough

I explained two days ago what I would do to change things.

It's not good enough for anyone to suggest that rules Couldn't have been any better and therefore the EFL did everything it could have done.

It needs a serious review, lessons learnt and an serious overhaul.

These two are not the only ones, open your eyes EFL and look what is happening

The EFL already has a wage cap in place. However, these rules are flouted by club owners (like our very own) by introducing money into clubs as sponsorship or shares (exactly what Day did at Bury until his business went bust).

It is these very club Chairmen who create and vote through new EFL rules.

Who is it exactly that should open their eyes?
