What a charlatan Johnson is, giving different and contradictory verbal commitments to different people in an effort to gather support, shame on those Labour MP's who voted against the winning proposal. As for those Tories who suport him because they think he is electoral catnip, Jeez, I think they will find to their cost that not everyone in the Uk is stupid enough to vote for the worst PM we ahve had.

He is clearly happy to sacrifice two pillars of British conservatism – keeping the Uk together and responsible management of the economy – on the altar of Brexit just to maximise his own chances of political survival.

MPs have bought themselves time to scrutinise his deal properly. It does not represent some “will of the people”. The potential breakup of the UK; a poorer and more unequal nation: this is not what voters were promised back in 2016. For Johnson’s Brexit to have any shred of legitimacy, it must be put to voters in a confirmatory referendum.

Off the top of my head, Scotland coted 62% to remain and NI 58% to remain. Neither will be happy about being taken out against their will. NI have the extra gripe of being treated differently to the rest of the UK of GB+NI.

Scottish independence is, IMO, now a question of when rather than if and that would be a huge financial hit for the 3 remaining members to take....... one they may not survive very well.

So, exactly what and how are Scotland going to do it?
Forget the sentimentalism of the Independence.

    They break away.
    1. What currency will they use?
    2. What trade deals will they use? Remember the EU demands we are currently going through regarding the border in NI?
    3. Scotland trade is 61% with the UK, four times that of the EU.
    4. They currently operate at 7% of GDP. That elimates them from any chance of EU membership in the future.
    5. They get £1200 a head more than anyone in England in pay outs. You can kiss your free prescriptions and education away.

I have relatives in Insch. They despise the SNP and Sturgeons lies around there. In fact Brexit suits them on the fishing stance alone.
So your picture of the 3 of us taking a financial hit, would be nothing to the hit the Jocks would have to take.
Personally, if they vote to go, let them. It's what democracy is all about. Not a lot of people know that.

It's rare that I can say that I 100% agree with TTR but in the case of the Scotch I do. If rA and the Remainers (sounds like a 60s band from Bootle) think Brexit is financial suicide, Scoxit would be more like financial genocide.

If they want to go, let them. If by any remote chance the EU accept an application from them simply to spite us, that hard border to England will make the Irish one look like a lazy lob.

    Remember Panama.....

So out of that 20m they have to fund a currency (Including get new sovereign debt re credit rated and its price going up) establish a defence force and all other UK central services. Deal with border issues, suffer export duties on sales to EWNI etc. May or may not get the oil argument fall in their favour.

Oh yes, and of course assume their share of repaying and funding a proportionate share of UK national debt of however many trillion.

    Yep, I can do maths

If it was 20M, GP, I'd agree with your sentiment. However, it's 20 BILLION.........

Fund a currency? They might opt to keep the pound, go Euro or even USD. They might even re-establish the Scottish Pound.

It would be reasonable for them to take over 8 point whatever % of the UK debt as they have that % of the population.

It would be equally reasonable for them to get 8 point whatever % of the UK gold reserves, silver reserves and any other reserves there might be.

They could opt to use the EU Army or simply take over the Scottish Regiments. I would expect them to remain in NATO so that would also provide them with defence capabilities.
