Suggestion: Those supporting the exit are generally referred to by the noun Brexiteers (although Brexiters is gaining ground). Those against that position are referred to by the noun Remainers. Why not leave it at that and not add a further qualifications?

    Absolutely spot on, ‘Amster.

Don’t understand your point at all, Andy...there is nothing whatsoever wrong or treacherous with continuing to fight your corner when you believe that something very damaging is likely to happen to your country based on the wishes of a minority of the electorate and on the basis of a campaign dominated by untruths put about by dishonest, self serving politicians.

I’m not sure if your contribution was serious but it sure as hell isn’t going to heal any ‘wounds’ and in the same ‘spirit’...
...what word WOULD you use to describe those who persistently refuse the electorate access to a second Referendum now the public is more aware and the likely consequences more clearly identified...’opportunists’ perhaps...or ‘dictators’?

I would use the word "sensible" for those who seek to deny a second referendum.

This perhaps is based on the impression that those who promoted the first one were stupid.

Lol...point taken, certainly on the second point and let’s not forget...on the evidence of the last 5673 posts you too would be described as a ‘treacherous collaborator’ in certain quarters, albeit a reluctant one.

Andy, why not simply call Remainers, Remainers and Brexiteers, Brexiteers?

Cavaliers and Roundhead might work, but it's been used at least twice before, firstly in the Civil War and more latterly to determine circumcision status

I agree and on the rare occasion the subject comes up away from the internet that’s exactly what I do, BUT few people seem able to limit it to that, and most of the alternatives revolve around negative stereotypes -stupid, self serving, entitled, in-denial, and others have been used even in this well-considered place in the last couple of hundred posts. Casting ordinary Joes in the same plague pit as some of the more extreme ‘major players (Farage,Swinson etc) Is also way to easy and a bit cheap. I’d love to see/listen to two or more people have ‘the discussion’ without caricaturing/stereotyping people but it doesn’t appear to be what appeals at the mo

I can think of many adjectives to describe Jo Swinson - dull, disappointing and careerist amongst them - but ‘extreme’ she is not.
Blimey Andy...you’ll be calling Ken Clarke a ‘revolutionary’ next.

As a moderator I’m moderate, many invent controversy to get the page click count up. No need for that here we have the Brexit thread
