Also let me tell you a little funny story old man down the road said to me “oh I’m going to get free broadband if labour get in”
I said to him “ oh why can’t you afford it now?
He said “no iv never had the need of is I have a computer”
This convo went on a bit of me asking what devices he had he didn’t have any and wasn’t going to get any even if he got broadband.
I asked “why do you want free broadband?”
“Well it will be free won’t it?”
Is that £400 per month or per annum?

It's £400 per annum loss not monthly.
The example was a pensioner on state pension, a private pension of £4k and £2k in dividends to bring it to a total of £14,000.

The question should be what will a pensioner gain to offset the £400 loss ?

As for the old man Silly-miller is talking about it's not the man that's getting the free broadband it's his property. Unfortunately the old man won't be around forever and a young family may move into that property.

No need for free broadband, just send it out to areas with poor broadband reception.
Just take 51% of Royal Mail, leave the 49% for another day.
Nationalise the railways and just let the current franchise's run to the end of their contract, some are franchised for another 10yrs.
Don't bother Nationalising utilities, it's not a vote winner in my opinion and it will be expensive.
Spend the money saved on the underfunded Social care for the elderly.

£400 per month just a tad misleading then
    Who needs politicians?

If I'm wrong and it's £400 per month - £4,800 per annum that's one hell of a reduction in income for a pensioner.

Heard the Lib Dems (presumably in an attempt to get a hung parliament and force yet another delay to Brexit) have sent letters headlined "ONLY THE LIBERAL DEMOCRATS CAN BEAT CORBYN'S LABOUR HERE" to every household in marginal constituencies where the Conservatives are challenging Labour. The Lib Dems haven't a cat in hell's chance of winning any of these seats yet they are trying to suggest Tory voters will switch to them and keep the seat for Labour and help avoid a Tory majority . Desperation tactics or what ? Anyone know people in Rother Valley or *****tone who have got this garbage (where Lib Dems are 66-1 to win ! )?

Doesn't matter if middle class people all benefit from the policy or not. If the working class benefit then they gain more pro rata based on income (not that I agree that eduction, dental care and broadband should be universally free by the way). They end up better off than they were.

And you're saying that the minimum wage increase isn't a working class policy benefit simply cos the tories are pledging to do the same, albeit further down the line? Harshingtons.
    ‘Working class’

Think your classification differs to mine. The true working class have been shat on from a great height.

Compulsory £10ph for 16yo kids. No thanks.

It maybe 400 per year or per month still it’s a tax if it’s per month and you tax license fee into account it’s £387 more money to pay if it’s per year it’s £250 more money to pay. It’s still making my old gran pay more.

And if you have no concept on money that’s 100 burgers you could have bought from Popeyes burger van and for what? Corbyns renationalising rampage or giving rich kids free uni education, what about the people with learning disabilities who are living on the street or the lack of pay rises The public workers like nurses have been given. Sorry puppy but I think that money labour is dishing out is not only unrealistic but it’s also beneficial to the rich as well not so much for working class, not to mention that money could be better spent elsewhere.

Did you know that it’s allowable for MPs to claim the cost of a tv licence on their office expenses?

And some if them do exactly that.

Some even reclaim the cost of buying a wreath for Remembrance Day

Not sure it's beneficial to the rich as they have to pay a fair bit more on balance on the overall package. Not that I think it's coming over well, funding the better off families education, dental check ups, broadband but at the same time many of the higher earners are paying more in income tax. But guess the people who really benefit most are the quite comfortably off, in 40k ish, that get a lot of benefits without really paying much more. That seems unfair.

When you look at “national treasures” like Mo Farah and Louis Hamilton (amongst many others) that openly live abroad to avoid tax, why do folks think that increasing tax even more on the higher paid will encourage them to stay here?
