Easy
The blinkered will say Trump is lying and Corbyn is telling the truth.
Rotherham may be in for a big economic shock if we get a Labour Government and Labour implement their plans.
"industry" in Rotherham is now "soft". The main employers are service industries, call centres and the like.
Make it difficult for them and they can easily up sticks and take the jobs to asia. No heavy plant and expensive equipment to sell or move like we had when steel was king.
That's only part of the problem.
Using your logic why did Marks & Spencer's, Maplins, Comet and a load of others move to Parkgate Retail and then close down.
Home base / Bunnings in the ex BQ warehouse is also leaving. ( up to 70% sales on now ) mid December.

Link is from 2017 about Rotherham Town centre, doubt it's changed much but rate able values were 2% less than the rest of the country.
Some Commercial properties in Rotherham are actually private landlords.
It's far from perfect Rotherham but it's no different from a lot of the rest of the country.
Internet shopping hasn't helped either, it's now damage limitation as far as High Streets in the UK are concerned.

Comet and maplin company’s went under nether was to do with Rotherham or Parkgate it wasn’t just that one shop that went under it was all across the U.K. just like Tomas crooks went under.
As for m&s in Parkgate I was talking to someone who worked there and she told me it was partially because a lot needed fixing in that store and no one wanted to fix it but mainly is was because of primark next door.
You're missing the whole point.
They could have free parking and lower rent / business rates and the High Streets still won't bring back the likes of Primark etc.
It's easier and cheaper to buy online, even from China.
Primark also increased it's employees by 40, which is another pro.
Open your eyes and have a look at High Streets across the UK. It's one of the reasons the Government are going to spend £100m to boost High Streets and more to follow.
Too little too late in my opinion.

It won’t bring back every shop to the town centre but if online shopping was the reason shops shut in town then Parkgate and Meadowhall would be practically empty too. Online is just a way to make things easier on shoppers however some retailers like blockbuster refused to get with the times while other company’s decided to split off and make there online and store business different which cut there credibility since they just say oh we aren’t the same as our online business it’s a different franchise.
The main cause of shops shutting was when you got chains swallowing up other chains
Index was swallowed up by Argos
electronic boutique Was swallowed by game
Curry’s was swallowed by pc world
There’s many others
Before they all merged you could go into a store and price match but because they all merged people had the need to look for it cheaper elsewhere and that led to the online surge we had and still have.
Labour must be getting worried in my area.
I’ve now had 4 campaign leaflets through the letter box, two of them personally addressed.
Last election we got nothing.
