Never met Wilson, Callaghan or Healey.
Did meet John Smith ( RIP ) a couple of weeks before he had his massive heart attack and passed away.
Met Tony Blair just as he became leader and prior to his 97 landslide. Sold me a ' dream ' of what he wanted to do and after three terms of Thatcherism it was time for a change.
Went off Blair when he forgot to increase the Minimum wage as he should have done and left it to stagnate.
Mo Mowlam ought to have got more credit for Peace in Northern Ireland.
Had a lot of time for Gordon Brown despite his " bigot " remark he made.

I get the neolibrism bit but if it's a choice of the Thatcher years, Blair / Brown years or more years of Boris Johnson I know which I would rather have.

BJ is a disgrace and I expect his government to unravel pretty quick but I'm not voting to undermine NATO, our defence, massively increase immigration and to allow Putin a greater say in UK politics.
I'm nothing like Marxist, I don't even identify with the term socialist. I'm more comfortable with social democrat. I campaigned under Milliband in 2015 and will do for any non tory party if it was a two party race in any area I happen to live in. I've said on this thread, we would have been better without Corbyn and Abbott in this election, but we have them and policies some of which I don't support, but I'm comparing them with the conservatives in my area, and supporting Wes Streeting (very centrist) who hates Corbyn) and Faiza Shaheen (left wing economist) against Ian Duncan-Smith. All I can say is that if we go back to more moderate, I'll support those against the tories any day of the week.

As someone who has always worked with young people in public services and whose entire family work in public services and charities, I know the certainty of where we're going under the concervatives. We see it in our towns and services now and they ain't half finished yet. Labour are at least offering alternatives, not risk free, and would not be able to deliver on everything they want. But they would be on the side of the working people, the services they need and the less fortunate. I met Emily Thornbury in local area this morning, another moderate but very passionate about the manifesto and how much difference a labour government would make to the badly hit communities. I'm not interested in the Corbyn name, he'll be gone soon whatever happens, and I'm even less interested in the minority of Trots with their "comrades" bull****. It's the policies and intention we should vote on. As far as I am concerned, vote for anyone who has a remote chance of beating a tory where you are.

And we'll take it from there ;-)

Silly-miller, I have stated more times than I can remember on MM that Brexit will prove a political and economic disaster for Britain. So, yes, I'm a remainer.

It will be like watching the millers get trounced if I stay up which aint a pleasant feeling.

Could be interesting some of early results because Sunderland is usually one of em normally a safe Labour seat but with a population in favour of Brexit. If Labour hold on to that fairly comfortably they could have a good night. If they don't the brexit factor could come in to play in a lot of Labour seats. Intriguing... My own view is that the Tories will scrape thru with a small majority but enough to get Brexit thru...

Then another 5 years of misery...
I'll be gay disco dancing with the missus at a Bjorn Again (ABBA tribute) Christmas show on Thursday night. We'll be having fun with glittery balls whatever happens :-)

Why does that rile you so much Monty? It's a statement of fact, we're affected by public services policy, and that of course influences how we see things. But that isn't any superior to any other profession in any other sector. Just that we have direct impact on underfunded services. Why can't we reference that on a political thread? Calm yer pants lad

With a lot of luck you will be celebrating the demise of the odious Ian Duncan-Smith and Dominic Raab...
