The thing I find incredible about that statement is that the organisation supposedly responsible for running the English Football League doesn't already have "a scale of sanctions for similar breaches" in place. It's pathetic really.

I’m not sure why it should go to an independence panel anyway, they called off the games not EFL so therefore breaching the rule, automatically should just receive point deduction imo.

Macclesfield now contesting theirs because of this outcome and you can’t blame them

Automatic 3 point deduction would have related to last season and make no difference to the outcome. A bit irrelevant really.

The "punishment" doesn't just relate to last season's game v Brentford. It includes this season's postponed match v Donny
