    Financial fair play

Is the only way to ensure financial fair play to introduce salary caps?

Birmingham have fallen foul and now Derby are under scrutiny.
If wages were under control then perhaps clubs would be a lot less likely to find themselves in these predicaments.

Granted, Saracens in Rugby Union have breached salary cap regulations so what would stop football clubs doing the same but at least the RFU have had the cojones to dish out the punishment. I'm sure Sarries won't do it again or will employ a better accountant

The football world might then just become a nicer place on a more level playing field

Never going to happen , won't be allowed to happen .

Birmingham , Derby and Wendy are desirable big clubs who Sky love because they can raise their advertising rates up a few notches when they cover their games live .

In my opinion the quicker Derby , Wednesday , Brum and Leeds get up to the PL and replace Bournemouth , Watford and Burnley the better as far as SKY are concerned .

SKY call the shots , who pays the piper calls the tune , in my opinion .

Salary caps, FFP, whatever you call it the rewards involved in breaking the rules and getting away with it always seem to be worth more than the risks involved in getting caught. Most US Major League sports have salary caps and employ experts in finding ways to get around them.

Saracens have had a huge penalty after being caught. Whereas -10 points when a team can't be relegated or promoted is a piss take in football.
Birmingham were punished last season and they're probably spent more than a lot of clubs even though they'll break the rules again.
The EFL chairmen make the rules and until that is changed then I don't think there's anything that can be done.

Personally I agree with you. A wage cap will solve a lot of problems that are in football.

Yes I said same about RFU getting on with job far better than the football world but it won’t happen with the clowns who run it, needs a clear out and rules that mean the same for the crimes whoever you are

Like Frog said above, its the League Chairman that make the rules. It will be difficult to get rid of them.

If football had the same financial fair play regulations as the RFU, presumably only then could the EFL enforce it.

A salary cap in football would certainly level the playing field. I doubt the richer owners would vote in favour of a regulation like this.

If it happened it would place much more emphasis on coaching and player development. That could be very good for the sport - and find out many managers.

There’s a financial fair play rule (which acts like a wage cap imo) which gets broken time and time again but certain clubs get punished more than others and that’s what wrong 100%
The rules have got to mean the same no matter what club you are

Nobody cares about making the sport a level playing field Wanchai other than the have nots .

The game belongs to people now with little regard for those at the bottom of the football food chain .

Let me put it to you another way , would you like regulations brought in that closers the gap financially between yourselves and Accrington Stanley giving them equal competitiveness for the good of the game ?

I suspect looking at the league one table today you wouldn't and neither would I .
