The percentages are slim that it will come off .

If you'd brought in Danny Simpson at right back , Ashley Williams at centre half alongside Halme and Oduor you'd have half a chance .

I'm not saying for one moment we'd even be mid table but I reckon we'd have at least 7 or 8 more points .

That would have us on 32 points today and our heads above the water .

There's simply no margin for error with the position we are in now because of the 17 games without a win and trying to find the winning hand .

If you'd have left Sibbick and Wilks where they were you'd have had around £1.5m to bring in two players with significant championship experience and still remain within budget .

Like you said in an early post, Stendel was really pushing for Wilks so we maybe pushed the boat out for him to please the manager at the time.
Sibbick is a funny one, our scouts have followed him for years. There were times when he played further up that he looked class but his confidence then looked too shot after a few mistakes. Thrown in too early a think for him and needs to go out on loan

If we'd a been garbage, I might be a lot more worried, but there's been a massive improvement in my opinion, there's enough to give me encouragement in any case. But as animal said, it's our home form that'll be the decider. Lot of pressure on our nippers I hope they don't choke.

Our position is the result of tekkin aif a season to acclimatise to this division. Tha couldn't really expect owt else wi so many changes last summer. My worry is that even if the defence issues are addressed this January, with the energy and intensity that we played with all season the energy levels will inevitably dip, injuries will take their toll and points will be even harder to come by. Obviously I hope that I'm completely wrong but personally I think we've just given ourselves too much to do after that horrendous start.

I do take ESR's point though as well though Pass , forget the inexperience and what have you Diaby and Andersen as a pair of championship centre backs are awful .

    Inexperienced and cr@p ain't a good combination .

We've also had major issues in the full back positions too for much of the season .

Offensively we are totally fine at this level , mid table standard .

    We've half a team in a nutshell .

Losing Pinnock and Lindsay last summer was like losing McCarthy and Ian Evans in the summer of 81 and replacing em with Nicky Law and Simon Jeffells .

Older fans will know where I am with that one steve .

Agree can't believe how sh1t Diaby and Andersen are as a pairing. I don't think they'd hack it in League 1 either. Were they scouted? Diaby is Jean yves Mvoto mk 2.

Steve if we'd had those two last season in the middle of the defence we'd have been lucky to make the fecking play offs mate .

Can't disagree theer. I think Anderson is marginally the better of the two If i were to choose

Can I just say this though to add balance- I think our defence gets far too exposed with Strubers formation. The space left in behind at times is shocking but that's the style he plays in looking to get us goals on the offensive so I won't criticize for 2 reasons-
1, We ent got a defence capable of keeping clean sheets so keeping it tight away from home isn't really an option.
2, I think playing attacking football away from home could yield more points than previously adopted systems we've laiked in this division over the years.

However, it has to be said that both Lee Johnson and Cocu figured out our tactics/strategy and we've lost both those last 2 away games.

The diamond formation is perfectly fine to make the game more condensed in the middle of the park and draw the opposition in to getting pressed to death .

The flaw is that it leaves space in the wide areas and the two full backs can be exposed .

Jordan Williams has to be completely on top of his game at all times to be anywhere near this level and that's understandable not always going to happen .

The lad Clarke Oduor is a class act at left back , looks proper quality , the real deal with this kid but unfortunately he broke down in the warm up which is concerning .

Young kid at 19 and the body not yet quite up to the demands ..... maybe ??

Ben Williams is a good hearted kid , leaves nothing out on the pitch .... however he ain't a championship left back yet .... struggled last season when standing in for Pinillos and that's with Pinnock and Lindsay covering his ass .

There's a lot to digest here but with the diamond and the full backs exposed with those two in central defence all over the shop it's not hard to see why picking away points up is going to be bloody difficult to say the least .
