    Smithy

I’ll have a pint of whatever Michael Smith has been drinking. He played in every position last night.
It was like there was 5 of him on the pitch.
Despite the ref giving fouls whenever he touched anyone and him not having a clear cut chance himself. He made the goal, dropped deep to create space behind for the wingers and Vas and seemed to spend a lot of the second half helping out in both full back positions.
He won’t bend screamers into the top corner or dance around a couple of defenders before megging the keeper. But he is definitely ***** to us, plays every minute and gets on with it.
On reflection, my man of the match for last night.

He is our current Alex Revell. Absolute key player to how we set up as a team, also proved his worth in the Championship last season. Deserves a pay rise.

I can't warm to smithy. He works hard all game. He gets battered most games. He wins 90% of headers. N chips in with a few goals.
Though I just feel there's sumat missing. I guess when you look at Moore, fern, Lee, revell frecks, stancliffe ect they were legends at rufc. Not sure smith will ever reach that level

I personally think Smith is ten times the player Revell ever was. If it wasn't for THAT goal I wouldn't put Revell anywhere near the legend status. I always thought he was massively overrated by a large section of our fans.

He is already a legend as far as I`m concerned, the complete definition of what it means to be a Rotherham United player.

Agree apart from wonder goals Revs was nowt special. I would certainly put Smith in our hall of fame for his efforts. I would think that Smith and Revs have a similar goal scoring ratio but Smith brings a lot more to the team than Revs did. He's better in the air than Revs and can hold the ball up better. He's also stronger. How many times last season did Smith have 2 big burley championship defenders on him and often still won the aerial duals a bit like he did yesterday really. He is also fitter than Revs was and has missed very few games while we have had him. Lets put it this way if he has a long term injury now I think we can say by e bye to promotion this season.

Thats not to say Revs was no good he was certainly a trier and its hard not to credit him for the goals at Wembers when they mattered.

Smithy is head and shoulders (literally) above everyone else as my favourite Miller of this era.

Is that because he's tall like you?

Seriously, what a season this man is having. Bids in for him during the close season if we go up?
