Reading this thread made me think about strikers and here are a few in my 54 years of supporting the Millers. I have listed the name appearances and number of goals for the club.

    David Gwyther 162/45

    Michael Smith 91/21

    John Galley. 108/46

    Ronnie Moore 125/52

    Shaun Goater 209/70

    Bobbie Williamson 93/49

    Alfie 93/52

    Trevor Phillips 322/82

    Alan Lee. 111/37

    Alex Revell. 150/28

    Mark Robins 107/44

    Ryan Taylor 134/23

    Carl Gilbert. 108/44
Just look at Alfie's goals to game ratio. Then consider his age and the transfer fee we received when he was sold. If ever proof were needed that we always get/got shafted in the transfer market there hou have it. If Alf had been at Peterborough, Brentford (or even the Dingles who always seem to convince the world they have real diamonds on their hands), etc he'd have gone for millions. With us, its peanuts. And be done with you.

Tend to agree with your views on transfer fees, GKoTW

Gwyther often dropped back deeper to regain possession, which he was good at doing. He covered lot of ground way outside the opposition penalty area, and was effective in closing down the opposition. Great header of the ball too.
Trevor Phillips figures are slightly skewed because, because he was sometimes played on the wing/ wide mid-field, especially in his early days in the Millers first team.
Dick Habbin - also played in midfield quite a lot after we were promoted from Division 4 . Great goalscorer in his first few months at Millmoor though.
A significant amount of Shaun Goater's Millers career was with in a struggling team. He would have scored a lot more within the current set up. Set up a lot of goals for others too (eg at Wembley)

In the last 20 years. Anyone like to guess our leading scorer per games played?

Take Smith out the game and we won’t get autos even though it shouldn’t be about one player.

I think these are just league games mate. Revell played 170 games for 34 goals. 2nd highest since 2000. Just behind Alf on 55 total.
    Smithy is 102 for 24.

Michael Smith plays a role a little bit reminiscent although albeit at a lower level to the one that John Toshack played in the successful Liverpool side in the 70s good with head and feet and a good footballing brain with the ability to bag goals - admittedly not as lethal Toshack was - but also crucially to create opportunities for other players around him to get in on goal he was absolutely crucial to that side back then just as I think Smith is to ours now
