You honestly believe that someone like Dick Campbell, when you see what he has achieved with a part time team like Arbroath, couldn't equal or better what Neilson has done with all the resources that he has been given? His team selection and tactics were spot on yesterday. Unlike ours.
I get what you are saying but if Neilson went out with Arbroath's tactics of defending on our 18 yard box and hitting on the counter then we'd all be moaning like fk.

Arbroath's tactics worked well for Arbroath as did Mortons nearly work last week for them but that shouldn't be the way we go about games.

Of course not. These managers are using these tactics against us as the 'better team'. They wouldn't use these tactics if they were managing United.

Powers is never going to be the defence splitting midfielder everyone wants and I agree with another poster on another thread that he's more of a Neil Lennon type of player.
he's creating f uck all though S. He's slowed us right down IMO

He's not a creator though mate, just like Shankland isn't a target man and Reynolds isn't ball playing CB. Harkes is meant to be the creative spark in our team and even though I do like him as a player he ain't no Charlie Miller. Probably part of the reason we can't break stubborn defensive teams down is that none of our central midfielders have the ability to do so.

I'm actually struggling to think of one in recent times!!! Maybe Tony Andreu or Scott Fraser.

No, evidence that any other manager of a similar level wouldn't be doing just as well with the same budget. That was the point being made.

We're back to the same old argument again, and it's really got nothing to do with winning or losing imo. I'm very pro Robbie in many ways, eg his man management and motivational and leadership skills but imo all the evidence points to a lack of coaching skills.

With the budget we have and the players we have, we should be winning this league fairly easily, and we are. Which is great. BUT....the many many poor performances suggests he's not the best when it comes to coaching an effective style. Players give the ball away too easily, we have very little creativity in the middle, and the service for Shankland is very poor despite the number of goals he's scored. Add into that the persistence with Pawlett and Sow who imo should both be away, then you have a bit of a mess tbh.

I've said several times that we needed to sign a creative mid in the window. Nothing. Ok let's see what happens in the summer.

I've also said for weeks that we need 4 or 5 new players as a minimum to have any chance of success next year. That's a big turnaround in the summer were it to happen, and not much time for them to gel into a team. And there we are back to Robbies ability to coach.

Please don't take this as a negative post because we lost v Arbroath, this is how I've seen things pretty much all season from the games I've been able to watch live or watch back as live.

I said Fraser last night on another thread mate

If he's not creator with the killer pass he was touted as having then him and Butcher cannot start together, its back to square pegs and round hole sh1te again

It's not negative, it's realism, and if we're to achieve anything next season it's absolutely accurate.
