If you disagree with me then thats fair enough but go back and watch the first half in full again and tell me im wrong he isnt my favourite player and Harkes/Butcher is 100% our best CM pairing but I'm not going to label him '5hite' as he is far from that.
Calm doon Bud I was only joking.

Harkes is a better player although different styles both are CM's, Stanton was better too.

Powers is ok on the ball but for me, just very slow and doesn't offer much to the team

Just read this comment on the pie and Bovril match thread from during the game from a Montrose fan
"As a complete neutral I’m puzzled what Powers offers to Utd? He’s as slow as wet weekend in Brechin and as far as I can see has no footballing ability whatsoever. Is he having a bad night or is that the norm? "

Now that is what I have seen every time I have saw him in person, unfortunately, and I can't see what improvement he will make at his age, he isn't going to make us a better side, for me he should be a back up
Powers is a far better footballer than Butcher, I've never ever got the furore over Butcher, he's no bad at this level but is very very limited in ability. A better centre half than midfielder imo and offers nothing more than a crunching tackle now and again.

What always annoys me about new signing's brought in by ANY manager is they are normally put straight into the team. This can be to the detriment of the team and is only done to show the fans that the manager can spot a player.I did not agree with Bingham coming straight in at Alloa but he played albeiit injuries helped him that night.

I think as captain Butcher should have insisted he was marking White at set pieces last night.

Exactly GB. You only need to look up the road where McSnake brought in Berra and immediately started him in the side. Having said that, that may have been because the rest of them are total scheite.

Can't disagree with you more, on all of that, I know you didn't like the Butcher signing but he was very good before he left towards the end and was a big miss in the relegation season, has been the best signing we made last January and but for shanks exploits would be stick on player of the year, he is also clearly better at cm than cb, and he is quite clearly better than powers and I could say that seeing powers just once and nothing he has shown since changes that

    Opinions and that.

Well apparently that big dumpling Forster has been playing like Beckenbauer since Berra's arrival, mind you that signing must have blew the budget to kingdom come as the latter does not come cheap. He is at the higher end of the Hearts wage earners.

Decent point. This run of games Powers is having with us is the first he's played in over 3 months. No pre-season, no bedding in to a different culture and style of football, nothing. Thrown in at the deep end and judged by certain fans after one or two games.
As for Bingham, he was better last night than the week before. Hopefully that trend continues. I think he can be a useful addition.

Agree with some of this. Butcher is decent at this level. Was never convinced by him first time round however, and he had two of his worst games of the season vs Premiership Hibs, especially the away tie where he gave away the pen and contributed to another goal. Time will tell how he fares second time round in the big league. He's more than good enough for us in the Championship though.
