O/T Inside No 9 & football

Inside No 9 bang back on form this week.

Dark, funny and clever.

Hey lads, I never watched Psychoville, so as a result I dont know about and I dont particularly even care about the 'David and his mam' characters!.
It was a shocking twist though with Jenna Coleman killing her partner, and even worse as she put his body on ice in the bath, which is exactly what David did when his mam died.
(ohh by the way... heres a Tykes spoiler alert of course lol)


Anyway moving on from that, this weeks episode was also very disappointing. Pemberton was the dad of the family and they were building up towards christmas etc. And there was really no ending, no punch line, or no dark or twisty thing to talk about. It really felt flat and it didnt feel like a normal No.9 episode.

I thought the son & mother dancing was brilliant, & Buick fire quips like "what did the scout master say " answer " Don't tell anybody " mothers answer no not that, watched them all now, just come in from pub, so going to watch tonights episode.

I havent seen tonights one yet, so Im about to nip over to I-Player to catch up on it.

Ive recently binged watched all of their League of gentleman stuff, and that is very hit and miss to be honest with some of it being secretly hilarious in parts, and also just simply unfunny at times as well. But in fairness, this is all about opinions.
But I couldnt help but like Charlie (Pemberton) the Millers fan character, who wore the Rotherham home shirt, and always argued nastily with his horrible wife (Shearsmith lol), and who failed miserably at line dancing lol. Ohh, and who regularly yanked blokes off in the massage parlour for an extra £20.

It was filmed in Hadfield and reminded me a bit of Holmfirth area and that dark depressing stone they have (although I like Holmforth and the Picturedrome).

Ohh I dont know the first thing about Rotherham GF, and maybe Royston Vasey taarn could be very similar to Castleford (my neighbouring taarn actually!) on a rough Monday morning.
For me the one thing missing on No. 9 was/is the third man, Mark Gatiss. I can do an impression of him as Micky the spotty unemployable geek, but believe me those similarities are purely co-incidental.

And of course Chubby was on it as the town Mayor, and he fell victim to the mysterious nose bleed epidemic of course. What exactly did the nasty butcher Hilary Briss put in the meat, the sausages I think, because they never explained that. Only that it was called the 'special stuff', and that Briss himself was sensible enough to not actually eat it.
I think my favourite character in this show was Geoff Tipps (Shearsmith), he who was terribly socially inept and often got his gun out and threatened people when he was losing an argument or struggling to tell a joke lol.

Anyway back to No. 9, and yes this weeks was back on form in what has been a rather disappointing series so far. I think they really peaked in the impressive series 4, lets hope they arent now running out of ideas.

Alright mate. I totally agree about 12 days of Christmas. It’s a friend of mine’s favourite episode but not for me because I think the main strength is humour which they forgot in that episode. I love Bernie Clifton’s dressing room.

This episode chokes me up everytime for various reasons actually. And then when the daughter appears briefly and it becomes clear to us what is actually happening, its a real emotional smack in the face isn't it.
