Even for high risk businesses there’s a 6 month gap between inspections, a lot can change in that time

Plus it isn’t compulsory to display the rating sticker so you can have a zero rating and most customers would never know.

Compulsory in Wales and Northern Ireland but not England.

No mention of Scotland, different system I suppose.

I would be pretty suspicious of any eatery that did not display it's rating. If you want to know the rating of a restaurant you intend to visit all you need to do is go to the Food Agency website at ratings.food.gov.uk. and put in the name and location -simples

All that would tell you though is what it was like on the day of the inspection, your visit to the establishment could be weeks maybe months later.
