i'm in a bit of a dilemma over this. My wife was due to visit an old university friend in London and was then going to the theatre. My two sons and I advised her against this and she has cancelled. What do I do? Left up to me I'd be off to the Hawthorns. I'm 74 and as far as I'm aware, in good health. However, after her cancelling how can I then go to the match. She's quite happy for me to go as she agrees that the dangers of me travelling to West Brom in my own car, walking to the ground and then being in the open air are less problematic than travelling by train, tube and then sitting in an enclosed area are different. My sons think it would be unfair as well!

I went against her advice before, 2 days after my ist mini stroke and went to the Albion v Wolves derby shouldn't have gone put my recovery back weeks.
But with this virus, i am also putting her a risk.
Soulman, no disrespect intended fella, but why are you asking the people on here. The answer is quite obvious. Your family has to come first and your health is paramount. No one would put a football club before family, let alone life.

I am not a popular poster on here, I do not intend to be offensive, I just state the obvious, which sometimes I suspect people, don’t particularly like. Do I actually give a hoot. No I don’t.

Don’t go, even if it is just for the sake of your good lady and family. Save them the worry. The Baggies will survive without you for a few games I’m sure. That fact you are on here asking suggests you know the answer already.

The problem with some older fans is this though BMG.........they have an attendance record almost beyond reproach over 40,50,60 years and they put too much pressure on themselves to attend.

With Lloyd listing his many complaints and the concerns of his wife it does make one wonder why the question is even being asked?

Maybe the hope that there will be a favourable “confirmation bias” from the guys on here to attend.

I think attending is a poor decision because you won’t know for two weeks if you caught it and passed it on or not.

If it were me I’d be avoiding all matches until this crisis is over.

I have been making the arrangements to come to the game on Saturday, together with my son and baggieboyGeoff (remember him?), with a visit to the curry house afterwards. I went to a music gig last Friday and did consider not going, so even considering not going to a gig amongst 200/300 people makes the idea of going to a football match amongst 25,000 look somewhat iffy! I have just read that someone in Dudley has died from this bug, worrying. I will be thinking very carefully before the weekend about this; I know that the sensible thing is not to go but then again, I am an Albion fan! I am 72 and have a minor cardiac problem, so should I be going to a football match? The answer is actually quite obvious; we shall see...........

I see what you say Mick, and I understand that. My initial thought was lucky them, going to the the Albion for all those years, then I thought of all the pain that may have caused.

Seriously though, I am in my early sixties, how I got here God only knows, seems like only yesterday That I was sat in school. Being that age means I am in the risk age group, however, I’m fortunate to have no underlying health issues. If I’d did have underlying health issues I would not even be considering going. If the good Lady was saying don’t go, well I don’t I would be questioning her. Perhaps I am a little under the thumb!

Seriously Soulman (Lloyd) don’t risk it. Better you keep yourself safe and wait until this super bug has passed and then go to many games rather than possibly just this one.

Sorry if I was a little blunt with my initial post, I had no intention to offend.

Don't risk it mate, I've spoke to a few recently who aren't taking this seriously. If you are vulnerable stay safe. Be OCD about hand washing and assume everyone has it. We had a visitor last night who left early because he didn't feel too well, you should have seen the wife and myself after he left, we must have cleaned everything! Handles, surfaces etc, mugs, towels all in the wash. Cant take the risk.

Why are the FA or Government not cancelling the match and taking the decision away.

My daughter and grand children are due to come back to the Uk for wife wife’s birthday in June but she has been told today that all flights on Singapore airlines from Perth are cancelled until at least the end of June.

She is waiting to see what options she has but the decision to travel with Singapore airlines at least has been taken out of her hands. Luckily she took out insurance last year when she booked the flights so hopefully one way or another she will get her money back.

Boris grow a pair and listen to your mate in the US. Stop all flights into the UK from the EU countries, China and Iran at least. That would make a huge difference to the spread and impact in the U.K. and probably give you him a big saving on his Coronavirus budget fund.

Heed the advice from your pals Soulman.

I’m missing our game this weekend. Tickets and flights paid for.

I’m 55 with 3 stents fitted, but family has to come first.

Put ya feet up as advised, and good luck.

I don't think there will be any decision to be made. Looks like Boris is due to escalate this to the next level today which will include the banning of large gatherings. Will they play it behind closed doors?
