The problem with China's figures is that when they ease up restrictions they say it will be let loose again

It does look better atm though

Additional - Govt will now increase testing in UK...might be a bit late, but better than nowt.

20000 is about seven times number of total corona virus deaths in China, where it went unchecked for several weeks(months?) before they did anything much. If that is the figure predicted from the "herd immunity" strategy, it is the wrong strategy.

In Japan they are confident that the Olympic games are going ahead on time - both can't be right?

Today at 5.10pm is the very first time in my entire life when I watched a Tory PM and the Chancellor stand behind a lectern and applauded them .

Unprecedented amount of money getting made available and I suspect this is the only the start of significant investment into business , people , NHS and where ever it's needed .

Where it's coming from I ain't a clue , how its ever going to paid back to be honest given the circumstances it doesn't matter .

    Well done the government .

Ironic that we voted against Labour's high spending plans but because of the virus we may actually exceed them.

But we'll need austerity again at the end of it, and you won't be happy about that.

Maybe it will be Labour having to balance the books then though for a change.

Austerity in 2010 didnt balance the books. It increased borrowing and led us to 10 years of misery - low productivity that flatlined wages and reduced our wealth.

The only alternative would be going begging to the IMF like Denis Healey did.

We won't have to pay large sums into The EU in due course.
Maybe some of the savings can be used to fund this very unfortunate situation
