    What?

    This doesn't even make sense...

Are you saying they're not a federal state? Because that's the reason most Brexiteers voted to leave...

Why will we come out stronger? We have a considerably worse healthcare system than most of western Europe because of 10 years of Tory cuts.

    Jesus.....can’t you read!?

I’m saying so much for a supposedly Federal State........the lack of joined up thinking at present is ridiculous.

It’s like watching men pulling women and kids out of lifeboats so that they can get in first with each nation doing its own thing. They are one great landmass and should have one solid plan.

Regardless of “Tory cuts” let’s see who’s health system holds up the best in the next three months before “bigging up” the Europeans shall we because I’ll wager that our NHS will do a fantastic job.

A lot of credit to our present government for quickly brokering this deal between the NHS and Private Sector today..........this adds a lot of capacity in terms of hardware and quality nurses too.

I’m pretty certain that this situation will see a massive expansion of the NHS once this is all over and regardless of who’s in power,as I stated earlier this week, this should be enshrined in law for all time.

I’d like to see the NHS put under joint political stewardship of some sort with funding growth guaranteed and it made impossible for any political party to weedle out of or score points off.

It needs to be on a separate pedestal above everything else.

A word for the Italian heath professionals though.....what a fantastic, magnificent bunch they are.

    Hats off!

Whilst I don't doubt our doctors and nurses will do a fantastic job. They're doing it with their hands held behind their back.

I want the Tories to get this right from hereon. But their underfunding of the NHS in the last 10 years has been nothing short of criminal.

We have 43,000 fewer nurses and 17,000 fewer hospital beds than in 2010.

Per 1000 people, for number of hospital beds by country in the world, we are 35th. Italy are 25th. France are 10th. Germany are 4th. I would say that gives those countries a much greater advantage of their health service 'holding up' in the next 3 months..

I would direct your ire towards the Tories and their chronic funding record in the last decade rather than the EU for any unnecessary deaths.

You are of course correct there are fewer beds in the NHS compared to 2010 which is nothing for the Tories to be proud of even with the excuse of having to pick up the economic mess left by Labour.

So let's look at what Labour did in the years of plenty 2000-2010.

    Number of beds

    Labour

    2000 241,000
    2010 183,000

    Tories

    2010-183,00
    2017-167,00

So like I said nothing to be proud of but you could say in tough times they have at least slowed down the rate of decrease.

    Over to you 123

Mick I am oh so very very sorry for such misleading information. These figures are based on what NEW Labour did and they are of course nothing to do with the wonderfully led Labour opposition of today who would by now have isolated everyone except the titled. .

    Apologies.

There has also been an increase in the number of nurses 2010 to 2017. Problem is it hasn't kept up with the population increase. Perhaps if WE had control over immigration rather than someone else it might help the situation.

I can't see how we could possibly achieve that sensible measure. Now let me think.

I don’t think that any government, whether Conservative or Labour (or coalition), ever has intentionally run down the NHS, it’s just a question of policies, with which we either agree with or not. Nobody saw this coming and if anyone had suggested providing the NHS with hundreds or thousands of additional intensive care beds, thousands more ppe equipment, thousands more ventilators, there is no chance that it would have been acted upon as the likelihood of it all being needed was so remote! Like it or not, we have to go along with the government that we have, otherwise there is anarchy.
