In your response to his original post, you jump to your own conclusion about what Brin may or may not have done and I’d say you do it with a totally inappropriate level of condescension.
I really don’t think Brin was simplistically suggesting that, because he and his mum were feeling healthy, they could behave as though the virus wasn’t a threat; a point he makes completely clear in his follow up post. Neither he or his mum were displaying symptoms. They were healthy enough to have contact so long as they observed the rules.
You made an assumption about his level of knowledge and I would say you did it in a patronizing, finger wagging way.
Then, instead of just dropping it (or, heaven forbid, offering an apology for jumping to conclusions about other people’s level of intelligence) you go on to try to justify yourself with comments that suggest you haven’t finished looking even further down your nose.
Brin is not making your point for you. He’s just not the stupid person you’re trying to make him out to be...
...and to suggest there is a case for saying this is “hilariously ironic” - I really don’t think so - sorry.
