In his Friday 20th late afternoon briefing Johnson was unequivocal; 'do not visit your mother on mothers day'. It wasnt qualified by saying its ok to go if you are cautious. It was clear, dont go.

On 21st Brin pipes up ' My beautiful Mum is 85 in June and I for one will be calling down to see her tomorrow.'

I guess what Johnson asked for in that Friday brief was broken many millions of times over the weekend by the great British public. Where do we draw the line at what is acceptable in these hugely trying times?
