The Americans are certainly welcome to love or hate Trump, so are we. Americans though, those "...who actually live there & witness what is happening with their own eyes..." are bombarded with many news channels and they can take their pick of which to believe. The most popular and Trump's favourite seems to be Fox News which is the visual equivalent of a cross between our Daily Mail and The Beano and is laughably derided by foreign mainstream media as "fake news" as I believe Trump likes to call reports he doesn't like.

In a world of instant news reporting there is no reason to believe that someone living in another country, America, for instance, has a better and fuller knowledge of his nation's situation than somebody in, say, Nottingham, even using their own eyes. An interested spectator in a London newsroom using his own eyes, has a much better informed view of American problems than a Louisiana hill-billy or a Tennessee ploughboy who takes the moonstruck ravings of Donald Trump seriously.

And there was me just thinking that this discussion was interesting and hadn't descended into falling out. I'd say it's entirely possible for each of us to form an opinion on what happens outside of own country; world affairs and politics are fascinating and thanks to technology, we have access to a huge range of information and views to help us inform ourselves.

Let's face it, Trump provides us with enough material from his own tweets and speeches to let everyone form a clear opinion on what he stands for.

Oops... Donnie is aiming for a minimum death number of 140,000 and a max of 250,000 which means I was way too low in my guesstimation.....personally I thought he would do better.

What a load of tosh,Americans aren't the only ones to be bombarded with "fake news" we get just as much or is it only fake if you don't agree with it? that is why witnessing things with your own eyes is the only way to be sure of the truth. Using your logic we should perhaps vote in American elections & allow them to vote in ours, would that suit you?

It seems the penny has finally dropped with Trump. It took a few weeks of the usual bluster and denial, but now he seems to realise the severity of the situation at last.

It would be interesting to see what percentage of illness/deaths are for different parts of the country.
The news will tell you results for Wales, Scotland etc. But not regions.
