I think it would have to be an accident.

Firstly, in my opinion, human incompetence is always the most plausible explanation for something.

Secondly, I just don't see that many benefits for China in what is happening now, but I see plenty of disadvantages for them.

No doubt being a bit of a Gaffer’s nark and all round forelock tugger, you agree with him when he said British workers are ‘some of the worst idlers in the world’.
Forelock TOUCHER ..... Why do you persist in showing your ignorance - please use correct terminology Fatty. Never been a forelock toucher in my life but always a hat peak toucher to the ladies, a mannerism which would be unknown to you. A Gaffer's Nark as you so crudely put things? If only you knew, that's the last thing anybody who knows me would describe my work ethic. I was completely the opposite and if I didn't get on with a boss for any reason ... I left ... simple as that ... as there's always openings elsewhere for certain individuals. I don't recall ever agreeing or disagreeing with anything Dominic Raab has said, all I said in my post was at least he had qualified in a profession and I was doubting whether you had qualified in anything and yet considered him an idiot. No Fatboy, your whole logic is one of a loser not a winner ....... but if the cap fits ....etc.

Apparently, whatever was the No 1 in the UK charts on your 12th birthday is your lockdown theme.

Mine was 'The green, green grass of home'. You couldn't make that ferger up cuddya?

In a world bereft, albeit temporarily , of productive capacity, which major world economy would benefit the most from that inadequacy ?

They already produce pretty much everything anyway.

A lot of countries have kept what factories they had open despite the lockdown.

China lost a huge amount of money shutting down Hubei province, they will lose more if every country in the world goes into recession and has less to spend on imports.

More attention will be paid to fragile supply chains after this and a lot of domestic production will be brought back.

Those are my reasons for thinking that China wouldn't have wanted this.

Would you apply that same logic to post #96 on this thread?

Mine's equally as bad and also has a hint of the self isolation thingy - Strangers In The Night by Frank Sinatra.

I did like My Way however, but the Sid Vicious version.

Not too shabby. More of an 'Ah so' than an ar5ehole.
