Given that more than 20,000 have now died in UK hospitals alone, the prediction that we will have the most Covid-19 deaths in Europe now seems nailed on.

Don't worry about it Flour, it's an American annoyance. Here in Seattle we have The University of Washington, commonly abbreviated to UW or as it's known by the locals, YouDub

Here's a good one for you, due to all the financial assistance being given through this pandemic, unemployed people here in the State of Washington who were on less than $50K/year and not receiving health benefits from their employer are discovering that they are in fact better off being unemployed. Basic unemployment through the first 13 weeks is $865/week.

Better off than if they were earning $49,999?

    Something wrong there.

Basic unemployment is usually $285/week but state/federal government have pledged an extra $600/week for everyone for the first 13 weeks during the pandemic. Also, independent of employment or retirement status, everyone whose 2018 income was under $75K ($150K for couples) have received a $1200 ($2400) one off payment.

If you think that Socialism has the answers to climate change, you should check out Chernobyl, the destruction of the Aral Sea and many of the other environmental ‘benefits’ brought to the Soviet Union by that economic system.

On greed, you are getting there. Addressing climate change means people giving up some of the things that they currently demand, such as cheap and plentiful air travel and large scale red meat consumption. I question whether people will do that; a poster on here who bangs the environmental drum accused me of being a ‘fascist’ for suggesting that he might cut his red meat consumptions as his contribution to the cause.
