Just had a telephone call from Jet2 holidays, regarding our coronavirus cancelled 3 week holiday in Turkey, in May 2020. The lady holiday advisor asked if I want to rebook, or take the other options, asking what my thoughts were regarding the options, I said I required a full refund on the holiday, the lady said no problem, the money will be back in your account in 7 to 10 days, and that I would receive a e-mail in the next 24 hours to confirm.
No pressure to rebook a holiday, or to take a voucher, in fact the lady never mentioned a voucher.

Would anyone seriously consider going abroad for any reason until a vaccine is successfully introduced and proven to be effective

I've used Booking.com twice and had problems both times. They always say you need to contact the hotel, cottage etc directly, they won't accept any responsibility for anything.
    I'll never use them again.

I won't because there are too many risks involved.
I was due to pay the balance to TUI last month for a holiday in July but chose not to do that because of the ongoing problems. It meant I lost my deposit of £400 but I thought that was better than being offered a credit note that could eventually be worthless if this situation goes on for a long time which seems likely.

In defence of them, Ive always used Booking.com. for business and holidays (UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East). Never had a problem.

I do many multiple stop business trips through Asia and the Middle East booking up to 5 or 6 different hotels in different cities. Ive got the app and can log in to my own account anywhere in the world to change reservations as plans alter or flights are delayed. Its a really good service to be honest.

    You get 2 price points.
First, Free Cancellation where you pay on arrival at the hotel - you pay a premium but can cancel any time up to 24 hours prior to arrival at no cost.
Second, a Pay Now option with No Cancellation - you get a decent discount.

I always pay more and take free cancellation.

Just watch them though because them, Expedia (I think) and another couple of booking sites own Trivago.

I was considering the same course of action Mellow, I relented and paid by the balance by credit card in the end. Still, I dont think it will be easy to recover the money via a refund, and it could be some companies go bust if this continues

You should get the money back from the credit card company eventually gm_gm but I read somewhere that they are considering their position because they are becoming the fall guys for an exceptional situation that is beyond their control. They may even apply for a change in the law eventually.
    Good luck though 🙂

I have also used booking.com extensively and found them to be first class with no quibbles on refunds or charging.
Yes their app is very good in my experience
I've made a couple of errors where I've booked twice through cack handed typing on a phone or in an area with dodgy internet connections and not knowing if I'd booked something. I'd effectively booked two rooms on a couple of occasions and just an email from me sorted it out. No heavy handed stuff and very customer friendly.
As they're such a big organisation I'm sure people have had bad experiences though

Make sure to use Quidco or topcashback.
