It will be. The card company pay you back.
Then they do the leg work to get their money.

    This is from Which? Magazine.

" But it’s unclear whether airlines cancelling flights constitutes a breach of contract. Their terms and conditions are carefully worded, and allow them a great deal of leeway in terms of changing schedules and cancelling flights".

This was my question at the outset. Is it the Airline / Holiday Company that is in breach given the current situation?

Technically the Government have said the public are not allowed to travel. If Ive booked a flight or hotel is it me that isnt allowed to travel and cannot fulfil my end of the deal?

Airlines have cancelled flights because no one is allowed the travel. Rather cancelling the flight first therefore restricting travel.

Just a question btw and not a statement.

I was due to pay the balance to TUI last month for a holiday in July but chose not to do that because of the ongoing problems. It meant I lost my deposit of £400 but I thought that was better than being offered a credit note that could eventually be worthless if this situation goes on for a long time which seems likely.
I did advise that you pay balance off Mellow, then you could have claimed the full refund back.
we should have travelled on the 17 March 2020 with Tui, money safely back in my bank account, after I did a Section 75 Consumer Credit Act 1974 claim to my credit card provider, in a matter of 2 days.

Irrelevant to the credit card issue.
If you pay for something on a card . And it is not honoured one way oor the other. It is the card company problem.

Surely the traditional 6 week school holiday season has to be cancelled.
The kids and teachers have had time away plus they've missed a substantial chunk of their education. Time to play catch up.
It would also help with parents being able to return to work and not having to babysit.
Perhaps Workforces should also be forfeiting most of their holiday allowances to help get the economy going again and repay employers and the govt.
It's only for one year and unless this happens we run the risk of the economy opening up in early July and then grinding to a halt again from mid July to the end of August

Everyone has to pay their part and not leave it to others

Like i said before, turns out Tui have not paid the hotels, for clients who stayed in them in January, February, March 2020, so hotels in limbo, plus Tui have told hotels that they will have to wait 120 days to get paid after tourists have stayed in the hotels, when & if the holiday's do start.
Look what happened with Thomas Cook holiday's when they went under, tourists on holiday in the hotels abroad were given the hotel bills for their stays, because Thomas Cook had not paid the hotels.
The hotel bill should be paid when you are in the hotel by the holiday companies.
I have done many DIY holiday's, flights, transfers, & hotel separate, & paying my hotel bill when I get to the resort.
