Thread: Home Deliveries?

  1. #1

    Question Home Deliveries?

Obviously, while we are supposed to all be stuck at home, we are ordering more and more stuff online.

    What are your experiences?

All I know if I am about to hit the order button and the site says YODEL will deliver it - forget it.

Three times now with three different products, we have been told a delivery slot and three times "no-shows".

On all three deliveries to quote Miss Diana Ross, "I'm Still Waiting!"

YODEL - No 'phone lines, no webchat, no nothing!

Hermes and the Post Office are real troopers, but YODEL - forget it!

Two old ladies across the street have weekly delivery slots, one with ASDA, one with Sainsbury's and both are spot on.

    Any experiences to share?

I have had several deliveries from Royal Mail, DPD and Hermes and all were delivered without problem and within the time scale given, in fact, the two from Hermes were ahead of schedule and they contacted me to ensure that this would be OK.

As for the supermarkets ---forget it in this sparsely populated area unless you want to starve. Too many vulnerable people in this area because of the area having been a coal mining region.

No problem here, but we have only needed to buy a few bits online.

Mind you, last night we orders a chippy tea and were told that delivery would be about two hours. So my daughter in Law and her boyfriend, who are banged up with us, decided to take a walk on the beach having both finished their day of working from home.,

The stuff arrived within 20 minutes. So there was a bit of frantic phone work and a disaster was averted.

We've had three deliveries from Tesco so far. You choose an 8 hour slot and they ring you in the morning to tell you within an hour when they'll arrive, and they've been inside that hour every time so far. The bugger is getting that slot in the first place, Mrs S has got us on the Priority List but it's still not easy, you have to think at least 7-10 days ahead and then the fun starts, there won't be a slot available, check again an hour two later and there may be some available, I don't know how their system works exactly, but Mrs S has it off to a fine art now and is managing to get us in for a delivery about every ten days.

I don't have a problem with foodstuffs at all. The Child Bride seems to quite like standing in queues. She is a shop-a-cholic in normal times and shopping for us, her dad and two elderly neighbours does not phase her one bit!

She'd get on well with Mrs S, she loves a day out in the Lake District then she can wander round the shops in Keswick or Ambleside, and is quite partial to an hour's shopping in Kendal on the way up. We should have been in Madrid next week, the only thing she wanted to know, 'Is the hotel near the main shopping centre ?'

    FFS.
