    Struber takes a pay cut

Barnsley head coach Gerhard Struber has agreed to defer 25 per cent of his wages to help the club through the coronavirus crisis.

The Chronicle understands the Austrian will see a drop in his salary for the next three months.

The Reds are also in negotiations with the first team playing squad about deferring or reducing their wages, as the club looks to cut costs during a period of no matchday income due to the lockdown.

Barnsley are still officially due to return to training on May 16 but Struber told the Chronicle last week that that seemed unrealistic.

The EFL is hoping to finish the season behind closed doors in June and July, with the Reds currently bottom of the Championship and seven points from safety with nine games remaining.

Fair play to him. I wonder if Hoss is a team player and has done the same with his wages?

He ent tekken a pay cut.

All he's done is defer 25% of his wages fo three months and then he'll get all those 25%'s back ageean as a lump sum in August.

A token gesture which sounds good in the headline PR but will not affect his annual income at all.

I'm sure our billionaire consortium could ev chipped in to cover the coming months with a loan until the money (transfer income and Season Tickets) starts to roll in and then they would get their money back, perhaps with interest.

If I were Struber I'd take every penny I could get. When the sh1t hits the fan it's normally the Head Coach that is first to go.
