I don't advocate making China a total pariah because it wouldn't do anyone any good in the long run, and the reported attacks on Chinese people in this country are a disgrace. They aren't directly responsible for the actions or inactions of their leaders.

However, it's fair to say that if there was ever any chance of stopping this virus at source then China were the ones who had it and missed it. And the World Health Organisation may have some culpability too. They've managed to present themselves as expert advisors on managing the spread of the virus after it had already broken out of Wuhan, but perhaps if they had been more proactive they could have prevented it spreading at all, which surely is one of the main purposes of having such a wide-reaching organisation. We don't yet know to what extent they tried to intervene in China or were prevented from doing so, but there are likely to be some questions to answer when the reviews of this whole situation begin.

Or maybe it suggests that a fair number of people are more impressed by newspaper headlines like "Brave Boris defeats coronavirus", "Baby joy for Boris amidst crisis", "We have to fight this together" than they are with "UK becomes first country in Europe to pass 30,000 deaths".

Even though I'm surprised the government still have the level of support you suggest, we are only in the first mile of a marathon. Being ahead in the polls when an election could be four years away counts for nothing. When this is over our performance will be compared to that of other countries, and I think that will make pretty grim reading for Boris.

I'm gonna advise that due to the coronavirus, we try and keep at least 2m's from his b0lloxs.

Personally, even without coronavirus I wouldn't go within 2 miles of Boris's bollox.

So shipmate, did you chase Tricky on the Derby board? Made contact mesen but your much better than me at Tricky baiting. He's not my favourite bloke and there's not much else to do these days.

I agree it's far too early to be predicting future elections. It would be astonishing (and very alarming for Labour) if Conservative support didn't fall back significantly, given the tendency of most Governments to suffer mid-term blues. To be honest though, I suspect that people's eventual verdicts on the handling of Coronavirus - positive or negative - could have very little effect on the next General Election. As all-consuming as the issue seems right now, events and the public focus change amazingly quickly.

True, Brexit barely gets a mention these days!

Although when Brexit does rear it's ugly head again, this government will again show their incompetence.

I'm happy to ignore the scumbag and leave him with them, although they've done nothing to deserve him. I did notice that he's still spouting his inimitable brand of "I read it in The Sun, so that proves I'm right" bullshlt over there. He seems to have made the board of his supposed rivals his new home, because he hasn't posted on the scum board since he was gloating about getting NCM shut down!
