As such, it's necessary to adopt a more nuanced position that can't be summed up as easily in two words. 'Stay Home' meant stay home. 'Stay Alert' in effect means we know you're going to go out more, but please keep up your social distancing and don't get complacent. Rightly or wrongly, it's trusting the public to use their common sense, which ultimately any Government has to do in a free society.
You certainly make more sense than anyone else on the right here, but I think a big mistake the government made early on was advising us not to go out rather than telling us not to go out, which is what they did after a while. We now seem to be back to the advisory stage, which given the earlier failure seems highly irresponsible. At least Scotland and Wales have maintained the sensible strategy.

With respect , they aren't maintaining it, they are paying lip service to it.

The UK is policed by consent, so the police would be unable, or unwilling to act like their French, or Spanish counterparts, so it's unenforceable.

The vulnerable parts of society will still self isolate, and the lock-down has to be responsibly , and progressively eased , or your Children, and Grand children will be financially ruined for years.

That may or may not be the case, but the point is that their leaders are offering sensible advice. When the advice becomes vague, people will ignore it much more readily.

So the previous strategy was a "sensible strategy". Why didn't you say so at the time!

If you had paid attention, you would see that I did. I said the lockdown was the correct thing to do, but it should have been imposed earlier.

So now the government are telling people in certain situations to go back to work on Wednesday. Couldn't Boris have mentioned that particular day last night in his address so people were more aware of what the situation was?

    'Clear and succinct' my arse.

Bit of backtracking there sh1tmate. Anyway, got a delivery from Hermes today. I can't even remember ordering a brown shirt but it looks very fetching and I might have to buy a club to go with it.

No backtracking at all. I've said the same thing all along, it's just that like a few others on here you tend to read what you hope I've said rather than what I've actually said.

"If you're out in the park and you're 2m apart... and use some common sense and you socially-distance, you can meet up with other people."

Asked if someone could meet more than two people at different times, for example their mother in the morning and father in the afternoon, Mr Raab said: "Outside in the outdoors, staying 2m apart, yes."

And asked on BBC Radio 4's Today programme whether someone could meet two parents at the same time, Mr Raab said: "You could if there's 2m apart".

Mr Raab was also pressed on whether people could meet others in a garden or driveway. "We are not moving to a stage where we say that households can mix inside the home," he said.

"So just to be absolutely clear, people cannot mix within the homes… and that advice is not changing."

    .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .......

And how many are going to take that as meaning 'OK to meet in the garden, after all it's no different to meeting in the park as long as you stay 2m away'.

Absolutely clear? I don't think so.

You need to a double check on the browning process for that new shirt of yours, Mr Navel. Is it a fitted shirt?
