PGW, I raised the point on this the other week on why I thought fishing was an outdoor sport and well segregated on the distancing aspect. We had to be realistic though and respect what was happening around us. Called my mate today to update him but, the poor man had prostrate cancer and had a major op a few months ago so he's out of it until 12th July.

I'm calling the bailiff tomorrow at the private lake we fish just outside Newark. They have weekend competitions so I'm sure they'll be keen to get one sorted ASAP.

For me, fishing is a total relaxation sport and yes it is a sport for it is a skill to land fish and for those that knock it, I'd love to see them have a go at it just to appreciate what's involved.

My rods, reels and gear are ready to go and my bait is already in the garage. Good luck anyone who's into this and tight lines as always.

Stunning pal. I have a very good friend who lives down in Norfolk, at the bottom of his garden is a private carp lake not 20 feet from his fence.
He doesn't fish! I thought I was in heaven when I saw the layout and bearing in mind where is bungalow is and the lake just sat there.

He's got me access for when I go down next. Hope the good lady understands why I may be getting up at 5am should the chance arise soon.

Just taking it off topic slightly sorry
Do you live near axe & Cleaver? I pass it or did when I was allowed nearly every week and it always seems busy, tried to go in for a bit to eat but no chance ended up in new inn which wasn’t bad tbh

    Lakes look stunning

It certainly is a skill to land fish and as a couple of friends on here who shall remain nameless can testify, on numerous occasions the fish win.

I do mate yes, they have been open for take-aways only during the outbreak. Landlord and landlady are a really nice young couple. It does get busy during holiday season and in winter when the seals are up on the beach at Donna Nook having pups. Friday fish and chip day( and evening followed by a quiz ( normal times) Ive had Sunday lunch there a few times and can recommend them, some of other stuff looks a bit pricey for a pub , but then again I am a Yorkshireman !

Brin, I don't think match fishing is going to be allowed yet, more difficult to do the distancing, paying , weighing in etc .

The Bay Horse has had a re-furbish and had just opened its doors when it all kicked off so I didn't get chance to try it out but it sounds like they've done a good job, but they were doing snacks only
