As a side note to this fred, but not wholly unrelated to possible NL playoffs, it is now official that Barrow in Furness has the highest COVID-19 infection rate of any town or city in England.
Its not often I agree with some of your posts legs77, however in this instance you are bang on. We set off at the seasons start, all be it slightly behind due to the prolonged take over, but when fitness levels were reached and systems of play organised we started to look like a decent team with a good squad to select from, we like all clubs in the E F L were aware of what we were all playing for and the rewards for success and failure. No one knew about the Corona Virus then or its world wide implications when it struck, how can the rules be changed at the 90th minute to suit the clubs that are failing in the E F L. As you rightly say no matter that we had a full tank of steam when the season was halted it would be grossly unfair to deny Barrow promotion, just think how we would have felt if we were in their place.
I believe that promotion and relegation issues should be decided on possibly points per game won maybe with goal differences being brought into play also, I think it might be fair to say that if the League Two clubs avoid the drop by default but accept the promotion possibly by default it may just give them licence to take this route further down the line.
Article in today's Athletic saying that the FA, League One and the Championship will oppose League Two's ballot to have no relegation from that league.
Perhaps Barrow to be invited and a single leg playoff at a neutral ground between us and Harrogate for the other promotion spot?
I wouldnt take what Evatt says seriously he knows if they played out the season it wasn't 100% they would have won the league.
As it stands he knows no more league games will be played so you cant blame for blowing his own trumpet, if he gets a promotion under his belt its great for his career.
I expect they will be a league 2 side next season in place of Bury but lets hope there is a play off to give us a chance.
I half heard somebody talking on talkSport this morning. a clip of a chairman or some official during the news round up saying "It wouldn't be fair to relegate Stevenage and promote an extra club". I've heard some BS during this crisis but that takes it to a whole new level. Where does the word "Extra" come from? It's been two up from non-league for years, that was the rule we were all playing to from the start of the campaign to the moment it was suspended. The depths of self interest people are prepared to go, in sacrificing the actual game of football in favour of a random cut off point that suits them is staggering. There's a whole bunch of clubs joining my strongly dislike list alongside Fword.
