League two clubs vote to end season

Could all be academic what Barrow and Harrogate want.
It seems as though the EFL has told League one clubs it’s a straight vote betwee PPG with promotion and relegation or finishing the season. It seems bonkers that League 1 has this choice yet League 2 were basically in favour of PPG but no relegation. I hope the FA step up and see through promotions and relegations including play offs.
The National League playoffs would take a week or so to complete. 4th v 7th and 5th v 6th on the Saturday. Winners play 2nd/3rd on the Tuesday and Wednesday with a final played on the Saturday/Sunday.
We are all waiting for the Premiership to decide what they are doing so we can have a domino effect down the leagues.

The playoffs may or may not happen but if they didn’t then 2nd place should not be an automatic promotion right of passage. You can’t change the goalposts (pardon the pun) of a competition that everyone entered on the basis that 2nd-7th were playoff places that is 80% completed as well.

just so you and everyone else knows here are a few of the NL and EFL rules and regulations;-

NL regulation 12.2;-

12.2 At the end of the Playing Season of each competition a table will be compiled showing the playing record of each Club in each division of the Competition. The playing record of each Club must include any points deduction made by the Competition or by the FA and in any situation where points per game are calculated the calculation will be made after taking into account the deduction of any such points.
The position of each Club in the table so compiled shall be determined in order with the Club being awarded the highest number of points being first and the Club being awarded the second highest number of points being placed second and so on.

NL regulation 12.3;-

12.3 Promotion, relegation and lateral movement of Clubs shall be in accordance with the principles established by the Leagues Committee of The FA.

EFL regulation 10.1.3

10.1.3 Promotion and Relegation between League Two and The National League

(a) At the end of each Season the Champion club of The National League and The National League Runner Up (be that determined on the basis of League position alone or by way of play off competition) shall be eligible to apply for promotion to The League.

So PPG can be used AND the 2nd place team can be promoted without having the play offs.... and without "moving the goalposts"

First it was the Barrow manager Ian Evatt and now the Harrogate manager Simon Weaver thinking that their clubs deserve to get promoted to League Two when their teams have won nothing. What is it with these managers?

I’m confident our manager and owners are quietly behind the scenes putting our clubs case to the National League with calm and rationale whilst using our strength and muscle as the biggest club in the National League. That is where it matters most, so in my opinion Neal Ardley does not need to say what he and our club wants the outcome to be to the press like those two clubs managers have done.

What is our case? To play the play-offs I agree we have a case, but this 'move over and let the big boys through' is just ridiculous.

Don't forget we'd just beaten Barrow on their own patch. There's no way Harrogate wouldn't be more nervous than us about playing in front of at least 7k, possibly a lot more.

We are top of the table on games played since Christmas and the last two months. The biggest cliche in football is that you're only as good as your last game. we won ours 4-0, Harrogate couldn't beat a side at home that hasn't won since 1st January, a sure sign they were about to bottle it just like Barrow. We were improving on our results each game - 2-1, 2-0, 3-1, 4-0. Then you throw in our tactical genius manager Neal Ardley into the mix and it's inconceivable that we wouldn't have won the title.

Seems like a lifetime ago now when you could hear the Kop chanting ......Neal Ardley is a tactical genius.

As much as it galls me as I believe we would have won the league if it was played out as normal, we were third when it finished. If they let two down and we're not having the playoffs then it should be Barrow and Harrogate going up. I agree August/September we were well behind the curve but there were times in October/November when we should have won games we didn't win, no point crying about it now.

Sorry one down due to Bury. If you think Notts should be allowed to complete the playoffs which is a reasonable ask then by that logic shouldn't the bottom clubs in league 2 be able to complete their fixtures as they might not have gone down in the end?

I think just let Barrow up and we'll have to go again next season in this league. It is what it is.

Whilst i agree with what you are saying i think if things stretch out towards next year there is every chance all 3 of Barrow, Harrogate and Notts will be in the EFL due to the dodgy financial state of some EFL teams.
Interestingly although Notts had a slow start to the season they were above Barrow after the 1st 9 games;-
15th Notts PL 9 Points 10 GD +2
21st Barrow PL 9 Points 7 GD -5

if you skip forward to about 28 minutes there's an interview with the Crewe manager David Artell who says that had L2 had continues without fans about 6 clubs would have gone to the wall

If Barrow and Harrogate are refusing to play 2 or 3 games of football in the space of week to decide who goes up then they should forfeit. Two of whoever agrees to play off can go up. The clubs that have got the balls to to settle this fairly should be rewarded, not this pair of cowards.
