League two clubs vote to end season

I’m not sure NA is saying anything that the owners won’t have already discussed with him. A decision has to be made asap by the NL now so clubs can start to plan for the future especially with the deadline looming for the submission of retained lists, although I’m not sure Ardley’s retained list would differ much for NL or L2.

Im disappointed that the likelihood of play offs now looks a long shot but c’est la vie.

Yeovil seem keen to play. Last Sunday their owner was insisting Barrow should take part in a play off if only one club was allowed to go up. It was reported that the NL were waiting on the EFL to decide what to do next, so you'd expect them to hold a meeting tomorrow.

After today's meeting, I'd say it looks more likely than it has done for the past week or so for tiers 2-4.
If League Two stage play off matches then the NL ought to be able to go though with them as well.
If Harrogate aren't up for it and Notts aren't up for it, then Yeovil and whoever else is willing to turn out should be given the opportunity to play for 2nd spot.

Just my natural Notts County supporting pessimism kicking in! That and the fact I have absolutely no faith in the NL making any kind of decision that might benefit Notts.

I dont want to defend the NL as they seem quite useless but in fairness to them they have had to wait for the EFL decisions.

Now by the middle of next week I would expect some confirmation of what the NL plan to do.

If leagues 1&2 have play offs then so should the NL as that is the fair thing to do if some clubs don't want it like Boreham Wood then you eithee ask next team down or give the team they are due to play a bye.

Maybe it was just Ardley being the same old negative Ardley but he admitted that his enthusiasm / determination to play off had dwindled and then rattled off numerous reasons why it's going to be one big problem. If that's a reflection of the club's attitude in general then I'm not at all convinced that we really do want to go through with it.

This is a positive step in the right direction that the spirit and integrity of the EFL with promotion and relegation is still taking place throughout those leagues.

If one team is being relegated from League Two then that now paves the way for two clubs to be accepted into the football league from the National League.

If the National League copy League Two then I guess Barrow will get the first automatic promotion spot.

Hopefully the National League will have a meeting tomorrow to determine if they are going to have the playoffs or not such that clubs like ours can prepare straight away or if not go and lick our wounds.

If the playoffs are to be concluded prior to 30th June when player contracts expire then ideally the final needs to take place on the weekend of 27th/28th June. If the clubs need four weeks to prepare for the play offs then the earliest the first round of playoff games could be played would be on the weekend 20/21st June. That’s four weeks from this Saturday.

That’s why it’s now decision time for the National League one way or another.
