I think Maitlis has got nothing to do with the Dominic Cummings case and I think you're trying to drag her into it as deflecting attention from Cummings and his preposterous stories about eye tests is the only way to defend your man.

The only direct comparisons you can make are the two government scientists who like Cummings also had a say in the lockdown rules.

I've answered that already but I'll do it again.

Different moral obligation (other MPs didn't decide the lockdown, Cummings did)

Different profile (it's like asking why Grealish breaking the lockdown makes the news while Haydn Hollis breaking it doesn't)

You could also argue that some of the other MPs (Labour and Tory) had more plausible excuses.

You are far too intelligent to lower yourself to this level of reply when you know the context of this thread we are discussing.

Cummings and Maitlis do two completely different jobs and are accused of two completely different things.

If you insist on lumping them together then I can only assume you want your automatic sacking rule to apply to everyone in every domain.

My man? I think you will find that I say he should go as the excuse he gave about the drive for his eyesight was bull. I can understand the drive to his parents property and agree with that, and on that note would defend Blackford if that is all he did, but I also would like to see the same justice given to all who did the same. Cummings has been labelled (rightly so) but it is a bit of pot calling the kettle if you can defend others for doing the same thing.

... makes me smile at the idiots who actually believe that Mr C wrote the rules. Have a look at the "Rules". There's no way one person produced the Rules.
Within the Rules, there is no way that anyone is restricted from movement. The request is to stay at home. But there are endless caveats that permit travel with the ideal requirement to stay 2m apart. That Mr C travelled 260 or so miles is irrelevant. My version of this is to travel 37 miles and stand 4m from my (vulnerable) daughter. Should the 'Mob' trace me I have made a will; so no willing furies...

So only Cummings wrote the rules? OK, Glad to be put right on that

When breaking the rules it doesn't matter, all should be treated the same

Oh yes, parties and picnics allowed.
