Given it was three months ago that signing defenders was mentioned, let's hope its still on the agenda as there was no mention of strengthening the defence four days ago.

“We do feel we need to add in certain areas – wide is one area and striker is another".

He said on the final part of his 7-part interview on Arabzone that was posted last week:

7 minutes in: "i think we need to strengthen defensively. We need to strengthen in the wide areas. These are the two areas we are focusing on. And I'd like to bring another striker in".

Someone told me at the weekend that John Souttar has signed or close to signing. Dont believe it myself though, just thought I'd put it out there

My point was that its already been mentioned and addressed in the media. Neilson quoted multiple times saying he wants to bring in defenders. There were rumours about Stuart Findlay from Killie etc so its clearly something being looked at. No point in obsessing over it every few days until we sign someone.

I'm not sitting here saying that a Connolly and Reynolds partnership should or will be our 1st choice centre half pairing. And I'm confident it wont be. What I'm saying is that theres probably been about 100 posts over the last few months that have said "Connolly and Reynolds will get slaughtered in the Prem" and so on. That IS boring and not news to anyone. I do think it is negativity just to be negative.

Anyway, the positive side of it is that we are looking for defenders and going by today's news Ogren clearly not worried about spending in the current climate. Thats Findlay, Nisbet and Niskanen all been linked who would cost money. Exciting times.

With all the virus stuff signings have been pretty much sidelined on here until the last week or two so I don't know where you get your '100 posts' stuff from? You might find it boring, other folk obviously don't. What is boring is people being targeted as negative, yet again, when they make a perfectly valid point.

Can you imagine Connolly up against Edouard or Morelos ffs any hint of clumsiness and they'll go down quicker than the zedbed in Gunboat's bedsit.

Im ok with getting one more season(even though he's got 2 left ) out of Reynolds if we signed a pacey CH to play alongside him.

Valid to you. Negative and boring to me considering the Connolly/Reynolds partnership has been mentioned so many times already. Its not news that we need to strengthen and no one is disagreeing we dont need cover. Also I'm not targeting people saying they ARE negative. I'm saying they are BEING negative by focusing on something that hasnt happened yet. All about opinions I guess mate. Not wanting to stir it.

I dont think there is any desire for him to play anywhere else than right back or left back as cover. He isnt built to be a centre half.

Naturally you would hope not, but given the state of Scottish football right now, who knows what signings are going to be made. Thankfully we seem to be bucking the current trend and are still in the market.
