I was listening to a 1976 Patti Smith gig in Sweden the other day, she must have used the N-word at least 20 times in one number, "I, I, I, I am a n***** " then she went through all her bandmates "Lenny Kaye, is a n*****" etc. and finally repeated the word over and over. For me that shows far more solidarity than bending down on one knee but you'd be #cancelled before you go to the 2nd syllable today.
Agree Sid but does that make me a closet racist or just someone with an opinion?
The bar has been lowered so far down now that I can see nobody much caring about racists or being called a racist in the coming decade, you're a racist now if you just go about minding your own business. I won't be kneeling for the same reason I didn't applaud the NHS and for the same reason I don't support minute silences at football for the armed forces or whatever. White privilege hasn't stopped the Indian or Chinese communities doing very well for themselves in this country as far as I can see and whilst that isn't to say there aren't issues for the black community, if anybody asks me to apologies for being white they can go **** themselves.
Mohicans were never part of the punk seen in 77. 78 , saw the Damned several times and the clash, loads of good bands, 999 eddie and the hotrods. Vibrators too many to name, hanging upstairs at selector disc, downstairs at virgin with the smell of weed smoke on Saturday afternoons, flying hoarse playhouse bar, then late at the venue up the lace market that I can't remember the name of.
Some good points APU upthemaggies.
