What seems to be clear is that the playing side now has a specific structure headed up by Tony Ashgar as Sporting Director. Any new manager coming in will have to be prepared to work within this framework as it seems pretty clear it’s not for changing. This may mean not getting Tommy Wright as it’s clear that the appointment of a CEO operating above him at St Johnstone seemed to act as a precursor to his eventual departure. Although TA may operate in a slightly different manner to a CEO, it still inherently means that the ‘manager’ does not have full control of the playing side when it comes to signings, transfer policies etc. Could prove to be a deal breaker................

Exactly what I said the other day mate. The Wrights & Leveins of this world are the type who want full control, especially when it comes to signings. Would either of those two come in as 'Head Coach' with someone else pulling the strings so closely above?

So we signed Sow, Pawlett, Nesbitt, L.Smith, A.King, Gomis and people think Neilson had no influence on signings?

See instead of freaking out about the words of people who know f*ck all about the club... people should spend time listening to what the people INSIDE the club are saying. Numerous times Asghar said that the Head Coach has final say on the signings. Of course he does the dealings - what manager would actually want to deal with agents, contracts and all that sh1te?

If Tommy Wright meets with Asghar - he wont be put off by the fact he'll have someone in between himself and the chairman who's sole purpose is to HELP the Head Coach with all football matters. FFS people need to relax and trust our board who have made very little mistakes so far in their time at the club.

I've listened to almost every podcast or interview thats been banded about in the last 24 hours and people are just assuming, guessing that "oh there must be some financial issues at United for Robbie to leave" and "Oh I dont think any manager will like working under Asghar" its just utter sh1te these people are talking. They have no clue.

Asghar in the paper today saying our transfer business wont stop. FFS we bid 250k for Nisbet last week and this hasnt been recognised in a single one of the above mentioned podcasts, interviews etc. Pressley has us mothballing the academy when the DUSF just donated 100k to help phucking progress it FFS.

Taking a day or two away from social media or I think I'll explode.

Bar King, all of the signings you’ve mentioned there were from 18 months ago when the new owners were just in the door and the new set up was in its infancy. Maybe it’s now progressed and although the head coach has ‘the final say’ the overall process has now changed in that time so that the overall input of the coach is less than it was back at the start?

I’m not saying it’s right or wrong - indeed it has its strong merits in that overall strategy and signing targets should not theoretically change just only due to the change of a head coach. However, there are some coaches/managers who DO actually like to deal with signings/agents/contracts themselves and aren’t amenable to a ‘committee’ approach. Again, it’s not right or wrong, it’s maybe just their style and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to suggest that it was maybe one (not all), but maybe one of the contributing factors to RN’s departure. After all it’s postulated that he left Hearts for MK Dons as he was increasingly frustrated by Sir Craig’s ‘meddling’. And it’s not too much of a stretch to suggest that it may not be to Tommy Wright’s liking either.

Having said all that, if the Club has decided that for a variety of reasons that this is the structure they want to go with then they should stick to their guns and continue with it. If they strongly feel it is the correct method, then they should not be dictated into changing it by RN, Tommy Wright or anyone else for that matter as after all as has been said, no one person is bigger than the Club.

Where has anyone said Neilson had no influence on signings?

We all know Asghar scouts players for Robbie to then have a look at. If you think this doesn't happen then your well wide of the mark. Harkes, Powers & Sporle all brought when the new regime was put in place. All we're saying is managers like Wright & Levein may not like having someone else influence their team. The Courier is already suggesting it will take a management restructure to land Wright. Levein is on record yesterday saying he would have to look at the structure of the club 'in great detail' if he was to consider coming back.

I think a day or two off social media may do you good sir.👍🏼

Exactly, and the players had better be on their toes and watch out when he’s about. Otherwise he’ll take them in hand.
