Did badly in his last role at Wigan. Had money to spend at Cardiff but didn’t do well in Prem. Ultimately when watched his teams play they are very uninspiring

As I said on the other thread I give up because I can't argue with views that any rational person would see as outdated and out of order. All I will say is that the vast majority of opinions on Facebook back my view and we are in danger of losing a lot of younger fans with this crazy appointment. Something which we can't afford to do.

As folk have said, he's went through all the correct channels and due process of racism rehabilitation etc so what else can he do?

If he is winning football matches as a Dundee United manager then it won't take long to win over his doubters within our support.

The frothers next door would love us to appoint him too. Another trophyless celebration to match the doon derby no doubt.

...after a while but reading social media this morning I'm not so sure.

My (admittedly limited) experience of social media is that folk will say things on these platforms they wont say in real life conversations. So, I'll never understand why it's ever seen as some sort of barometer on any given subject.

Can we just a managers credentials on a 5 month failing in the English Premiership? They weren't even in the relegation zone when he was sacked, 5 months after getting them promoted.
He got Cardiff to the League Cup final while in the Championship. Lost the playoff final in his first year in the Championship. Won the Championship in his second season. He did badly at Wigan but they were a sinking ship long before he took over.

How many managers managing in the Scottish Premiership could do what Mackay did at Cardiff? None would be my answer.

Facebook had the independence referendum in the bag for the Yes campaign.I have never trusted it since.Malky appears to have the backing of many on here including me.
Younger people have been educating me on being more inclusive and tolerant towards others and they have swayed me towards forgiving Malky for his mistake in the past.

I'm not opposed to his appointment on the grounds of his offensive text messages, given that he has undergone rehabilitation and learned the error of his ways. But I do disagree with the standpoint that people can't actually be genuinely offended by these remarks. It's easy to call people mock offended when you don't actually understand what offence is caused and why. I agree with the other poster that there is an element of " it was OK before so why not now? " on this board. Age isn't an excuse gents.

It didn't, its just that the YES brigade never shut the **** up and it gave that impression.

I'd say the majority here are for Mackay, Eastfootball is very much split, possibly more against, and Facebook is certainly against the appointment.
