My word. If we can get a manager of his calibre into the club it will be a massive coup (McClaren I mean). Would be 100% delighted with Wright but if McClaren is in the dugout on August 1st we will have the most experienced manager in the Scottish game.

McClarens win percentage in the last 7 years in the Eredivisie, English Premiership & English Championship is 40%. Exactly what Tommy Wright's is in the mighty Scottish Premiership and he's hailed as some kind of messiah. Would love to see how Tommy fared in the same situations McClaren has been in. Neilson failed, McInnes failed, Lennon failed, Levein failed, Ross most recently failed in League One ffs, yet here we are, knocking someone whose made a career out of doing what no other Scottish manager has been able to do.

A former England national team, Eredivisie winning, Uefa Cup runner up, English Premiership manager and some guys don't want him. Wowzers.

I’m no knocking him mate - taking the piss out of his Dutch accent is fair game as that was funny as phuck. But I’m not questioning his credentials - I’m trying to look at what is the best ‘fit’ for the Club currently as things stand based on where we are and I feel TW is the safest pair of hands for a number of reasons. I wouldn’t be disappointed with McClaren, far from it, but I still would prefer TW right now.

Best piece of news this morning however is undoubtedly Lee McCulloch - 20/1. 😁

Fair play. I'll be astonished if we get McClaren tbh. Can't see us going for Mackay after all the fan division. Part of me thinks it may still be Tommy but who knows. Maybe we'll pluck someone else out of obscurity. It's exciting as f*ck, I'll say that much. 😂

Ok - you've convinced me. I was going for MM (and putting up with media storm).

    Agreed.

Also English league cup winner. and Fergie's assistant at Man Utd when they won the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup in the same season in 1999.

    Some candidate.

What happened to the initial statement that Utd wanting someone with experience of the Scottish game? This has to be one of the most important appointments that we will make in terms of our short term financial future and some of the names spouted by the media and bookies give me the fear. Do we need such a high profile name as McLaren? Yes it wld be absolute gold for the media. But wld he be able to hit the ground running in the short period before the season starts. I’m not sure.

So increasingly it’s looking like one from McClaren, Wright and MacKay.

The good news? It’s no going to be McCulloch.
