Could well be a very good appointment mate but i honestly feel so sorry for Malky,it appears in the age i live in you cannot be forgiven for your past mistakes.

It appears that a thug who has assaulted police officers on more than one occasion can become captain of his club but a manager who had a massive fallout with the owners of his club can never be allowed another chance.

We had a wonderful chance to appoint a top class manager who has worked at the summit of English football but letters of concern have scuppered his chances. It is very disappointing to me that a small minority of Dundee United supporters would rather see their team humiliated again with another Mixu rather than success with Malky,FACT.

Agree all the way with this. What these guys want mcphee, daly, holt no thanks I'd rather have guy who's got plenty experience to take us forward. So **** about the past now if MM had us in good place next season.

Another rant apologies but one was due!!

People are people which mean mistakes are made, some learn, some don't, that's life.
I would rather regret something I did do than something I didn't, especially if the reason I didn't was because of the what ifs, the might happens, and peer pressure.
If the reason malky isn't being asked is because of attoned past misdemeanours then where does it end, x player has x tattoo, x player unveiled x message when he scored so it would not be a good look for the club if we signed them.
I get that fans should voice opinions but ultimately I can't understand why some of our so called fans don't trust our owner to make the right decisions for our club and do whatever checks and due diligence necessary . To send emails and letters stinks, do they not understand that future players, managers, sponsors etc also read social media and may get put off of coming as a result.
As it stands we were ahead in the league by a mile, we have sellable assets, for the 1st time in years some club approached and bought our manager, we have the best Scottish striker in the land, have attempted to sign another lad banging in the goals and have approached 2 ex international managers. All of this took time, money and a lot of effort, all of these had some risk attached at point of signing and all of the keyboard warriors would have shot their gravy at just one happeniing in the Mixu and Laszlo days.

I would prefer fans to send emails and letters encouraging the owner to keep it going rather* than* being a keyboard warrior just to gain a few likes.
Let's leave this nonsense to the likes of Dross or Patter or any jealous bluenose and support the only club in the city that matters and has brought success in last 40 years.* The majority under a manager who was no angel btw, but is still hailed as the standard by the same keyboard lunatics.
We're either all on the united bus or we're not but faithful through and through is our mantra, I say a big off you f uck to those who pick and choose when to get off and on.

    Rant over

As with all of the above - and if the Club peek in here then I would like to note a Voice Of Concern over the potential appointment of Micky Mellon. Mainly when we have an unbelievable option in Malky Mackay available. Unlike Mackay, this guy has NEVER played or otherwise worked in Scotland in ANY capacity. He has NEVER operated at any level above the very lower leagues of England. As far as I can see he has NO track record of bringing through players from an Academy and into the first team. So what exactly are the boxes this guy is ticking because where I’m sitting, it’s none of them.

Please, please ignore what is a small minority of punters as frankly from that aspect, the tail is very much wagging the dog currently. I would suggest the vast majority of Arabs want an experienced, skilled, knowledgeable and REHABILITATED Malky Mackay as our next manager.

Micky Mellon - May not be everyone’s choice but for me he’s a great appointment if we get him.

The club needs stability and he will Provide that. Each club he has managed he’s been there several years. So that to me proves 2 things. He’s in things for the long term and he’s done a good job Because we all know chairmen in general are trigger happy.

He’s got good knowledge of the English lower leagues. And this is where he could pick up some gems. And he’s managed in physically demanding leagues. Similar to Scottish football. Ticks all boxes for me.

Couple of articles that would suggest he is very much in favour of youth development.

FWIW, Tranmere fans are pretty gutted at the news, but not surprised.

Another good article from when he was linked to Swansea.

I think its perfectly natural to be underwhelmed by this to be honest as Offshore says. But its also a chance to be open minded and intrigued by what he can bring to the club.

Also important to remember that he's not the first person we've asked permission to speak to that hasnt gone any further. Time will tell. But with over 500 games managing in the English lower leagues, I don't get the whole 'doesnt know Scottish football' arguement to be honest. Never have. Football is football. He'll have the best part of 3 weeks to do some initial research on the other teams in the league IF he gets the job. Still time for plenty of others to come into the frame too.
