    Not me .

To tell the truth it wasn't a bad idea , it fell down when they didn't replenish the stock they'd sold .

That's the massive flaw in it .

We moved into a brand new council estate in 1963 where all the front doors on each pair of semi's were alternately painted red, yellow, blue and green and refreshed every 5 years. You could tell who were exercising the right-to-buy options when door colours started to vary and none standard doors were installed. My parents exercised their right in the late 70s I believe. I was last there in 2017 after we'd sold it following my Dad's death. Some but not many of the houses on that estate still had the original/council coloured front doors.

That a lot of things changed in 54 years. There was hardly a car to be seen in 1963 and now you can't get down the street for the bloody things

Interesting. Maybe improvements in sanitation have resulted in the virus 'activating'. I'm sure there was no way it could have laid dormant and survived in the bogs at Millmoor

It wasn't that those who painted their doors & installed non standard ones were making a statement then ?

Interesting theory, but that’s what it is, a theory

One of those things that difficult to prove or disprove, but it gets a minor academic’s name in the media.

My theory is it came from a minor asteroid from the planet Zog hitting earth during a Friends of the Earth rally.
