Grist
This is what you actually said "Like the BBC is doing, filling jobs on diversity requirements rather than by talent."
I've looked at your link and I can't find any reference to appointing someone even though they lack talent. Perhaps you could point me to the relevant section?
You keep knocking the BBC. So what would you replace it with? Facebook?

Not sure whether this is true as it's in the Sun but they looked as though they were willing to overlook more talented individuals in their search to find their right match.
As I said it's in the Sun so it could have been b0llocks.
...i think i know who you mean, the lady with a voice for rounding sheep up..lol. Certainly not for commentating on a football match....
I totally get the question. Im no expert on illegal immigration. To be honest, I dont know much about numbers or effect.
I guess there are different levels. I assume you're not asking about those on working holidays or student who overstay their visa, or people trafficked by illegally by gangs into stuff like prostitution.*
I presume you mean the African guy traipsing across 2 continents to get to Britain. I saw a programme where some guys were waiting in Morocco trying to jump a boat to Gibraltar. They are sold the dream and given up their life savings to a trafficker to make the trip. Just young lads trying to make a go of life who found themselves in very difficult circumstances. These are not scroungers.
This type of stuff seems to happen to the worlds poorest. I dont think it helps when people like Farage use their billion dollar publicity machine to de-humanise them.
How do I feel?* Great sympathy. They certainly dont get 5 star treatment on arrival. Im pretty sure they could not come here and slot into a luxury lifestyle as some suggest (they couldnt get a proper job or house for starters).
However, they should be returned home but afforded some dignity in that process.
Thanks for the reply. You presumed wrong. I meant all/every type of illegal immigrant. Those over staying visas plus those crossing the channel on a launch or in the back of a lorry.
I personally feel great frustration. There is a perfectly legal way to enter the UK and apply for citizenship. The thing is the process (as it is for almost every country) is slow. Very slow (as it should be given it's meant to be a two way street, I.e. do you want to become a UK resident? Plus does the UK want you?) It's also expensive. Although interestingly not nearly as expensive as the option you suggested whereby the poor souls are selling everything to come here. Why not apply through the legal channel then? And be patient. Just as many thousands of others do.
The stats in the link below make interesting reading and serve to inform the debate:
Ps, genuine thanks for not falling into the age old trap of conflating illegal immigration with asylum seeking and/or net migration as a whole. People often get the issues entwined, whereas they are indeed three separate (but all important) debates to be had.

Ps, it's also important that people, me being one, are allowed to voice their concerns over illegal immigration without being called a racist or a bigot. Or indeed having such implied. That ship has sailed (pardon the pun).
Let the debate begin.....
If they're from Lancashire then deport them back to the rainy county.
Although Smudge commutes from there, as we know he's a geordie so he passes the test
