The board meetings are always entertaining as being a public agency they are open to the public who if they want have 2 minutes at the podium to give comment (hence the need for the armed police presence). There's one elderly guy who is at every meeting, he wears a placard around his neck saying "Jew", gives a Nazi salute to start his speech, proceeds to call everyone who works for the organisation a facist pig and then he invariably gets shut down for abuse. Comedy gold once was when a black lady stood up and was rambling on about racism and how she had contacted our customer service and hadn't received a reply because she assumed Mr Marcus Clarke (our head of CS) was racist. Little does she know that he's black

The world is out of whack! Last night a rookie police officer performing a routine traffic stop was shot and killed in the city adjacent to the one where I live. His partner, a veteran was also shot but survived. It's the first officer shooting fatality in the history of this small city about 15 miles outside Seattle. Naturally it's been on the news today but on the main local evening news it's not even the top story. The officer was white. I'll leave you to guess the race of the shooter and whether we'll see mass marching and looting as a result.

Circling back on this, I began to think something was afoot as the story developed these past couple of days. The subject of the traffic stop was indeed black but as I'd feared, the cop who was hit in the head and killed was accidentally shot by his partner after he himself was hit in the head by a bullet from the 'accused'. Another sad indictment on a gun happy society. Unfortunately, the BLM supporters who were already partying over the death of a white police officer in the line of duty will have even more to crow about.

Back to the original topic. One local socialist councilor is proposing Seattle cuts it's police force from 2,200 officers to 400 and uses the money on other 'social' projects. Pre-virus I worked in an area of the city fairly rife with problems related to drugs, homelessness, crime against person and property. The pharmacy/convenience store at the bottom of our building already employed off duty police as security. We have 2 armed police officers in all our board meetings. I have informed my employer that even if/when the virus is thwarted I won't be returning to the office if the police defunding becomes reality.

Berkeley, Seattle, Minneapolis, New York, Portland and Seattle all seem to be run by crazy Marxists who want to destroy their cities.

Antifa are out in Portland setting statues on fires and attacking the police every night with the support of the Mayor.

Beats me how they manage to attract recruits in the police force, apologies, police service (force has been deemed to be too aggressive a word) when you’re expected to tackle a knife wielding thug and you then get no support from your superiors

You can't win with this lot. I read an extract from a new book in TheCut.com. It's about the problems of interracial friendships. Basically, Aminatou Sow (Black) goes to a party held by her pal Ann Friedman (White). Aminatou immediately spots she's the only Black at the party. Quite reasonably she feels panic, betrayal, thinks she is sinking through the floor. She cannot forgive Ann and concludes (quite reasonably and how Wendun can suggests Blacks have chips on their shoulders is beyond me); "Even if these White people decide they will confront racism every day, it's guaranteed they will sometimes screw up and disappoint the Black people they know."

There are several types of people in the world all of whom are represented on MM. There are queers who support BLM because they fantasise about BBC.
